*NOTE* I just realized a mistake at the 7:27 timestamp. This statement is NOT from Blume!! I got my screenshots mixed up and this statement is actually a company called Go-To Skincare that I am talking about in Live Chat today. I don't normally prepare my live chat screenshots at the same time as my news screenshots so this one got mixed in with the wrong video.

*Jen Luv* PFAS is *everywhere* including all our *toilet paper*, *drinking water*, all "nonstick cookware" *including* 'ceramic coated'. Pet food packages are lined with it. Research has found that PFAS might also be in my dental floss, waterproof boots, umbrella, mattress pad, bike chain lube, cell phone, clothing, camping gear, and more. They’re used in a range of personal-care products, from moisturizer to bar soap to cosmetics, by a number of brands. Humans also dermally absorb PFAS, which are commonly used on guitar strings, plumber’s tape, and cell phone screens, among other everyday products that humans regularly touch. Food packaging for humans and animals. The effects and impact are cumulative over time.

@@gwendolyncordero2173 all that means is that she’ll be getting a lower profit each time they sell a Jaclyn cosmetics product. Re: Blume Meltdown: Sephora Canada does carry this product and they DO mention blue light protection but they DON'T mention UV protection. "This formula is packed with ingredients to provide skin barrier and blue-light protection." I don't believe that Canada has any specific regulations regarding the claim of blue light protection, but the laws about UV claims are very strict. They also don't elaborate on what specific ingredients are supposed to perform this blue light protection function.

Not surprising, I've made soap and body products for sale in the past and every product has to have a form submitted to Health Canada, called a Cosmetic Notification Form, which must include a full INCI list of ingredients and label information, including product claims. If you want an SPF claim you must also comply with the form called the Sunscreen Monograph and only the ingredients approved for UV protection in that document are allowed to be used in products claiming UV protection.

With Revlon they should go vintage and create some lines called "Decades". There they could go through colors that were their best sellers from the 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s and 90s. The 90s browns are so big now. From the 50s, there is a discontinued lipstick called Bachelor's Button that was worn by Marilyn Monroe. There are several you tube videos of people trying to recreate the color by mixing other colors. Revlon could do a big promo and re-release the color that was one of Marilyn's favorites. I love Revlon and been buying since I was a teen in the 80s. They should go the nostalgia route and not try to compete with all of these modern companies.

I love what fenty did for the college students, but I think it would be more successful with drugstore brands. It’s known most college students don’t have a huge budget to include high end makeup. But I could see it being super successful if Elf or Wet and Wild did the same thing!
@DuskyJewel
@DuskyJewel Жыл бұрын
It’s already successful. 1) The focus on HBCUs means something, especially considering their focus on diversity and inclusion. The company knows it’s primary market. 2) Fenty is a brand with various price points and ppl will splurge on it. This is especially true for Black people who wear makeup. Fenty is more than a brand of cosmetics for BIPOC. 3) This promotion was just that … promotion. It brings greater brand awareness and reputation. 4) Innovation. Fenty is an innovator in this space. The general concept isn’t new, but bringing it to colleges is.

Unless you eat the eyeshadows containing PTFE or PFAS by the spoonful everyday for a long time, the likely chance of getting cancer from something like eyeshadow from PMGLabs is very small. Aside from that, not everyone uses the same eyeshadow or make-up item daily. I'm just glad that there is full transparency from this company even if the ingredient is highly scrutinized. There are a lot of companies that wouldn't even mention it at all even if it's not make-up.

I'm a casual make-up user, only really use it for special events and cosplay, so hearing LoungeFly of all things was surprising. I have a lot of their Pokemon bags, purses and wallets, so the prospect of a cosmetic company now being at LoungeFly... Imagine if Pokemon did a collaboration with the cosmetic brand, that would be amazing and hilarious

It’s concerning that that there is only one self made billionaire on Forbes (Rhianna). Who cares about the richest women when she didn’t even do anything to get to that position… that position was inherited not earned. We should only highlight self-made women.

After finding out Jaclyn isn't even using the name Koze anymore and never even trademarked it, I honestly hope that Jaclyn Cosmetics doesn't work with her anymore. Especially since she has always said she is the only owner and the only financial backing the company has, that it's an indie brand, a family business, etc. I would just love to see how she would lie her way out of that one🤷‍♀️

I just looked at the ingredients for my PMG mini eye shadow in midnight voyage… Ptfe is the first two ingredients for the matte shades. I normally don’t look too closely at the ingredient list for eyeshadows but if this is a common ingredient I might start lol

It's unfortunately becoming more common in cosmetics, and also almost all cosmetics use microplastic ingredients. This is why we created our formulas from only natural origin ingredients.

That is so strange that the Pat McGrath palette lists PFAS in the ingredient list. I never would have thought someone would put it in eyeshadow. I recently threw away some period underwear because they contained PFAS and they can be harmful.

Thanks for covering the Blume stuff… that seriously really bothers me that they put it in their marketing email that they sent out. It worries me that some people will use it and think they are getting adequate UV protection. I hope Blume decided to market it as a great moisturizer that is meant to be paired with a sunscreen. Thanks for covering this, Jen! -Kayla M. 😊💜

PTFE is a PFAS, but there are 12,000+ PFAS - it's a large group of chemicals. PTFE is in Teflon, but it's not THE PFAS everyone knows Teflon for (that was PFOA). PTFE is not part of the PFAS6, which are the chemicals that the EPA and FDA are focused on right now; we have very little safety information about the rest. And nothing, at the moment, is regulated on the federal level - some states do have drinking water standards. Probably the bigger issue here is that PTFE is in everything. I mean, PFAS in general are, but… do you eat fast food? PFAS are what keep wrappers from absorbing oil. Ski or snowboard? The wax used, full of PFAS, including PTFE. Dental floss? PFAS. The chemicals as a group are literally everywhere, and it's nearly impossible to avoid them. That doesn't mean you shouldn't try - we know that some PFAS can lead to metabolic disorders and endocrine disruption, cardiac disease, and cancer. There are even studies showing that the level of PFAS in your body likely negatively affect your immune response, leading you less likely to mount an appropriate immune response to vaccination. But if folks are going to avoid PTFE, I would definitely encourage them to look into the entire class of PFAS, especially the PFAS6, and realistically think about exposure pathways and the things that you can do to minimize exposure. It's very likely that there are many more things in your life than an eyeshadow palette that need to be addressed. (A good start is to have a point of origin activated charcoal or reverse osmosis water filtration system, either at the faucet you use for water and cooking, or for the whole house. Avoid drinking or cooking water contaminated with PFAS, minimize exposure to freshwater fish that aren't from stocked lakes, and minimize use of anything that creates a nonstock or stain- or water-resistant surface via a "fluoro" or "perfluoro" chemical.)
