I haven't read the full bankruptcy filings that you're referencing mostly because I'm not sure where to find them, but I'm a CPA and former financial auditor and from a financial accounting standpoint "intercompany receivable from morphe LLC" would actually mean the reverse in that morphe owes Jaclyn cosmetics the $7.5M (if Jaclyn cosmetics shows an interco receivable morphe would show a corresponding interco payable to jaclyn c for the same amount). Usually an intercompany receivable for a retail company with inventory transactions would probably arise if one affiliate company transfers inventory to another affiliate company (i.e. JC transferring inventory to morphe to sell in morphe stores) or if one company makes a purchase from a vendor on behalf of the other. My guess would be that a good portion of the amounts due from morphe to jaclyn cosmetics relate to the first scenario where product was transferred to morphe to stock on morphe retail store shelves but then went unsold as of the bankruptcy filing date. I have zero proof of that course, just going off of things I've seen in practice, but it would make sense to me.

My daughter (7) was gifted a kids set of makeup and nail polish and I just let her go crazy with it. She really likes her sparkly green eyeshadow and glitter pink lipgloss. I’m here for it. 15:24 the concealers formula is dependent on the PH balance and considering no one is experiencing irritation from the acidity of the formula i'm assuming it's simply not high enough to prevent bacterial growth. Yeah this is what happens when you stop using parabens and other biocides/preservatives/antifungals that aren't considered "clean." Yes, there are ways to effectively preserve without these materials, but the pH of the formulation and the temperature that you add the preservative are much, much more important.

I always review the items I buy because the incentivised reviews always bug me. I see them at Sephora *a ton* and it's so beyond frustrating when a product that hasn't even launched yet has hundreds of 5* incentivised reviews. I cannot even tell you how many incentivised reviews I've seen where someone says "I haven't used it yet, but it's so pretty! I'm sure I'll love it! 5 stars!" Or "I haven't received it yet, but I know I'm going to love it! 5 stars!" And those are definitely the most annoying/frustrating/irritating/pointless to me. Whenever I look at reviews, I only ever actually take into account the reviews that aren't incentivised, and that are also verified purchases. I've literally seen reviews from people who didn't even buy the product, they just saw their favorite tiktoker talking about it so they "had to leave a review" 😳 😒and no, I'm not lying/joking/exaggerating.

I write the date I open things on the product with permanent marker. Not just make up and skin care products but also food items. If I’m opening up a new package of lunch meat I will write the opening date on the package. It’s a great way to know how long something has been open. Also products like make up and skin care are transferring bacteria and germs from your face and hands and that can effect the product.

33:21 yeah Jen I agree with you! I feel it’s contradicting and may confuse some people with those claims.

FYI, receivable means Morphe owes money to Jaclyn cosmetics :) A receivable is an asset on the books that says a company (in this case Jaclyn cosmetics) has a receivable (money owed to it) from Morphe. It remains a receivable until it's settled, or paid. This could happen if, for example, Morphe sold Jaclyn cosmetics on its site but then didn't pay whatever percentage was owed to Jaclyn cosmetics. Not saying that's the case here, that's just an example.

Hey Jen! I am with you on complexion shades being in some sort of logical order. I also appreciate how Ulta has shade descriptions on lots of different products.

I think I have heard you (or others?) mention that Jacklyn Hill products were sold I’m Morphe stores? If so that is likely one of the big reasons for the company to company transfer of funds from Morphe to J.H. Cosmetics. Or they could have been performing other services for JHC. I have never done much in the bankruptcy space (I am a licensed attorney) but when you have multiple companies under one umbrella, funds going back and forth between the sibling companies is fairly common when one subsidiary performs services for another.

Because I’m so into makeup my daughter who is 5, loves to play with makeup. But I’ve always just bought her own makeup to do whatever with. Usually it’s from Colourpop, but I’m definitely interested into buying from that brand for her.

Interesting to see the revenue of Jaclyn Cosmetics vs the invoices for creating the lipsticks. I don't know how many other launches they did in 2021, but I think it gives us a hint at the profit margins in the cosmetics industry. Cost per lipstick, not even a dollar. Add a few cents for the component and the packaging and they are at cost maybe $1.50? This is the kind of info I love to get into! Come at me, balance sheets!

That foundation shade mix-up is driving me crazy as well!!!😵 At first I thought it was Sephora's website that was the problem and then I started seeing it on other ones too and I was like nooo STOP please lol!!!! It makes it impossible to find your shade in a timely manner!!
