Donna won the first Grammy Award for Best Rock Vocal Performance Female for Hot Stuff. Donna who was nominated for 5 Grammys that evening, including Album of the Year. She most wanted this award, as she began her musical career in the Psychedelic Rock band Crow, as the front woman for the band; before she won the part of Shelia in the Munich broadway production of Hair and moved to Europe.

This song was Donnas second # 1 hit in the summer of 79 making her the first act to have 3 #1 hits in one year and also earned her a Grammy which made her the first woman to win best rock performance female ever. She holds about 10 world records and famous firsts to numerous to list now. One of the biggest and most accomplished singers on the planet if not THE biggest and most accomplished! Over 100 million records sold,stunning beauty,and a heart as humble and kind to match!The Mariahs, Christina's, and Beyonces are just pale imitations of the QUEEN, Donna Summer!!!

I've been listening to Donna Summer a lot lately because it reminds me of my dear cousin who passed 3 weeks ago at the age of 58. On a summer visit with her when I was 15, we were cruising around in the car she had just got for her 16th B.D. listening to Sunset People and all of the songs on Bad Girls. Good bittersweet memories.

First female artist to have BACK TO BACK #1 albums (Live &More and Bad Girls). First female artist to have BACK TO BACK #1 songs on the Billboard charts in consecutive weeks (Hot Stuff & Bad Girls). Donna Summer was 'da bomb in the late 70's. A trailblazer who STILL doesn't get the recognition she deserves. Thanks for recognizing her immense talent. (Also a gifted painter later in life.) One of the greatest female vocalists in the music industry.

This was always one of my favorites from Donna's 1979 "Bad Girls" album. Several of the tracks off the Lp were hits. Others from this album are: "Bad Girls" (title cut) "Dim All The Lights" "Sunset People" "Journey To The Center Of Your Heart" Other DS hit songs are: •"No More Tears" {duet w/Barbara Streisand - long version is better} •"On The Radio" •"The Wanderer" •"Love Is In Control {Finger On The Trigger} •"She Works Hard For The Money"

Thanks for your awesome reaction to this song. I just subscribed. I was a teenage white kid in central Texas in the late '70s and really into Zeppelin, Van Halen, ZZ Top, and Black Sabbath. But I found myself in possession of a Donna Summer cassette, (don't remember how) and I played it in my '67 Mustang in my parents' driveway. Loved it! Stayed there and listened to it again. I always preferred the other side of this single "Bad Girls", which was a giant hit as well. But anything from the Queen Of Disco is good. RIP Ms Queen, we'll always remember you. Understand though, the hate toward disco was drawn across racial lines. Disco was and will always be the music of love and inclusion. It didn't matter your race, color, creed, sexual orientation, age, gender, physical condition, religion or political affiliation, all were welcome. That frankly was the major underlying reason for the hatred and violence directed toward this genre.
@londonmum1901
@londonmum1901 2 жыл бұрын
Hate towards Disco?. Never heard of that or witnessed it. There were so many genres of music (soul, reggae, rock, country etc) back in the '70s all of which made the charts and pubs, clubs etc catered to each of them. We all did our own thing and no hate was directed at any group.

@@londonmum1901 Apparently you aren't from the US where disco clubs were attacked, radio stations held "I Hate Disco" record burnings (once at the end of a baseball game. This song was SO controversial when it came out. Almost was banned because of: The phrase "Hot Stuff" was widely regarded as a mans semen at the end of sex and it just didn't set well that a girl would be asking for such a thing. 2nd was: "Wanna share my love with a warm blooded lover..." as opposed to a dildo or sex toy. This woman was a trail blazer! She was great!
