He still made some good music. Mary Wells was married to 2 of the Womack brothers and she had children by both, people are only human and they make mistakes and we have to forgive. My favorite of Bobby Womack is “Across 110th Street” (1973), the theme from the movie of the same name. Great tune. I first heard that song during my first watch of the movie. In 2010, Bobby Womack and Mos Def were featuring on the Gorillaz song, “Stylo” from the Plastic Beach album. Fantastic video for “Stylo”, too. 💜

It’s known that the song was about Sam Cooke and him getting with Sam’s widow.. but fun fact, Bobby Womack pulled up on Sam’s older brother, Dale Cooke, so that he could try fixing the situation. He knew Dale wanted to beat his ass, and once he saw Dale, he told him to do what he needed to do.. which led to Dale knocking him out
