Thanks for watching! This is more fun than uncovering the rust. I wish I posting to KZbin back then. Wait it didn't exist!

Great to see the front end coming together! Looks like 90% of the hard work is done and you're one to assembly from here.
@GarageTimeAutoResto2 жыл бұрын
Thanks Greg! 90% is generous, but I'll take it. 🙂

@@GarageTimeAutoResto Body and frame are done right? I'd call that 90% :D. Worst case you could drop an engine and tranny in the rear add some steering, an old lawn chair, a windshield and you're ready to roll!!! :D:D:D:D

This is exactly my plan. I'm the guy who drove my yellow 911 without fenders or a windshield, ha ha. Good times.

Good to see your progress. I recently watched a pod cast with you from like 3 years ago. We have very similar stories. Got my 356 in the mid 80's. and still have it spread around the garage. Love the 550, built one (Thunder Ranch) in the mid 90's, wish I hadn't sold it. You are laying the foundation for when I get back to the 356. Thank you. I am SoCal and hope to cross paths someday.

Awesome Karl! Best of luck on your car assembly. As you can see in this video I have car parts everywhere! Love the 550!

Another great video Tom. Exciting to see the 356 on tires. You'll have a real stunner when done. You should be able to get you and either Porsche on Jay Leno's Garage.

Cerakote.. You'll love it... As always great work! Keep kicking that can!

Yes. Will try cerakote on the 911 first

Great to see it a rolling chassis, I will be looking at some of your previous on rust removal. I have seen a liquid for ultrasound cleaners for rust but never used (Yet!) Be interested to see how that turns out Great video 👍

I've tried dilute evapo-rust in the ultra sonic cleaner with no heat and it works great. Faster than normal soak.

That must have been pretty motivating to do, can’t wait to see what’s next! A dental curette is what it’s called. You are using it the right way although yours looks really tired haha

Thanks and it feels good to be back on the ground even partially. Now when I get my teeth cleaned I'm thinking of car parts!

Good job, Tom. Did you know any of these skills prior to starting restorations?
@GarageTimeAutoResto2 жыл бұрын
No, except hitting things with hammers which I still do a LOT!

Car is looking great!! What engine are you going to put in her?
@GarageTimeAutoResto2 жыл бұрын
Thanks. I have two engines for this car. The numbers matching engine needs a rebuild, but I also have a 912 engine that runs. That engine will go in first.

Did you check run out on the rotors? Are you going to stay with the steel wheels or put later wheels on it?
@GarageTimeAutoResto2 жыл бұрын
Plan on measuring runout but haven't yet. Never say never but steel wheels only for this car. Not a hot rod! That's why I want both the 911 and 356😂
@marklangren31422 жыл бұрын
@@GarageTimeAutoResto Wheels do not make it a hot rod. Wheels are the first change to make it your car. If you were trying to concour it then yes, but to do that you need the tool kit, hubcaps, etc. The problem is when someone looks under your car, they will know its been repaired and isn't original. And original wins. Enjoy the car.
@GarageTimeAutoResto2 жыл бұрын
Not really a concourse car, but I do have the tool kit, hubcaps, etc. The bottom has been replaced, but all the original details are there. Are you familiar with all the Karmann versus Reutter details? This car has all the correct features underneath. Maybe you're are thinking of preservation/unrestored class? Most concourse winners today aren't original at all. They are over restored.

@@GarageTimeAutoResto Have a friend up here with a Carrera 2 thats been up here since the early 70's, thats an original car, including paint. Your car would work in top side only. But that is neither here or there, its your car.

@@GarageTimeAutoResto I know the difference. I bought my first 356 in 1974, bought a B parts car and then bought the C I have now. My brother bought a B which need minoe things that we are bringing back, it was supposed to be our father, but he died before we could get
