The fact that he was just hovering over the edge of the black hole really shows how powerful viltrumites are

As far as we understand it, a regular person is able to do that too as long as they're moving fast enough to stay in orbit. its once you go past the event horizon where you get spaghettified. Though if theres other matter orbiting the black hole that might tear you to shreds instead.

@@CrazyDutchguys just being near a black hole wouldn't immediately kill you, but you'd still be vaporized by the radiation from the accretion disk alone. for him to be unharmed by that while also just floating there in space and keeping himself from being pulled in (doesn't look like he's orbiting) shows just how strong he is.
@offspringfan100
@offspringfan100 3 ай бұрын
Also the density of the inside of the event horizon is dependent on the size of the black hole, so theoretically you would immediately be spaghet even after entering a supermassive black hole such as those at the center of galaxies, assuming you were durable enough to withstand the environmental hazards

It’s stated fairly early in the series that the way Viltrumites “fly” does not happen through propulsion in direct opposition of gravity, as with every other being in existence. Viltrumites simply “exist” within open space and can will themselves to move through it, completely independent of the concept of gravity. A black hole would not be able to pull a Viltrumite into itself alone, unless the Viltrumite willingly allowed it to.

I think that's one of the most awesome things about it; we get the best of both worlds. It is a unique skill to be able to stand by your work while also acknowledging where improvements can be made.
@noahallen1996

@@tailuigiExactly. And in a way, it's gratifying as a creative to get a second shot at something you love. This doesn't mean you dislike the original incarnation, but sometimes you feel that you could do it better, or flesh out certain concepts that in retrospect you wish you'd elaborated on. That opportunity to, essentially, adapt and refine your own work can be gratifying.
@tailuigi

@@noahallen1996 That's a fantastic way of putting it. I wish more adaptations were treated as an opportunity in this way; most either stick rigidly to the source material and may heaven help them when they get a detail wrong or omit a scene for pacing, or they're radically and fundamentally different, made to follow marketing trends or by people who think they know better than the original author. But here was someone thinking, "This was good, but in hindsight I would have changed a few things" and seeing an adaptation as the chance to do exactly that.

@@GokuBlackRose978 Nolan’s spent more time with his people than he did on earth, so what he did in the comics does make sense as he’s trying to process these new feelings and how he should handle breaking the rules of his people that would hunt him down. The show had an interesting take on this as well, but the comics take makes more sense for a character with hundreds or thousands of years worth of supporting a selfish, arrogant and egotistical ideology (the strong rule and the weak submit or die).

I think the most important scene in the episode is when Omni-Man turns to Mark and screams "Why do I care about them??". It shows that he didn't simply turn good, but he is actually confused and without knowing what path in life to follow now that he ruined both his earth life and his viltrumite life. Even though he believes humans are inferior to him he still understood at a few moments what humanity means

Quick? He was on Earth for over 20 years, and on Thraxa for a few months. He's also clearly still coming to terms with his attachments, and we have very little ideas of any attachments he had before he came to Earth. Let's say he's about 1000 years old. Scale that 20+ years over a human lifespan instead, and it's over a year and a half. That's plenty of time for change, and he's not even done changing yet.

He’s like Endeavor from My Hero Academia where you can’t forgive him for abusing his family in the past, but you can accept the man he is striving to be now, working to be better. Endeavor isn’t changing himself so his family can forgive him, but because he came to be genuinely remorseful after introspection. Heck he even straight up says he’s going to buy/build his ex wife and kids a new house so they can truly cut ties with him. For Nolan and Endeavor, I don’t view their arcs as redemption, but atonement.

He did monsterous things, and in S1, it was shown he was a monster. But knowing the context of Viltrum and the life he truly cared about on Earth, I think the show creators made a great decision of making him regretful and even sui***al over his actions he did on Earth to show he is actually redeemable and that he actually cares about Earth despite his programming of centuries long experience seeing other beings as lesser.

I prefer the comic version. Haven't read them, but hearing this makes much more sense. Thousands of years of conditioning doesn't just break like that. It makes more sense that him letting Mark live was him experiencing the first crack in his conditioning. It would give him pause and make him confused enough to run off, but it wouldn't simply change his moral code and make him a good person. At least not yet. He is still a monster. It makes more sense for him to run off and try to resume as normal elsewhere, far away from the cause of his crack in his understanding. Then over a long time and a lot of encounters with Mark (some hostile), and confrontations of the true horror of what he's done and what he is. He would try to find his purpose on the world. Which would probably be to end the Viltrumite Empire.

@davidcopperfield5345
@davidcopperfield5345 7 ай бұрын
@@Mannyhdz0052 I think those emotions and morals should have taken much longer to reflect in him. It might be enough to stop him from killing his son, but not enough to make him reconsider his ways. At this point, he shouldn't even know he's done something wrong. This is just protocol to him. When things go south, use any means necessary to prepare them for the invasion. It's like a serial killer with no emotions who finds he's unable to kill his kid. He doesn't understand why. Just that he can't make himself do it. He'd see it as something wrong, then leave to try and return to "normal". Nolan has been conditioned for at least a thousand years to believe one way. That type of conditioning doesn't just leave after one strange encounter. It would take a while of breaking down that mental conditioning to reach a point where he even understands that he was wrong. My problem is that if all it took was a small moment of realization to get through to Omniman, then he would not have been able to do the horrible things he did without thinking twice. Remember, this man used his son as a battering ram through hundreds of completely innocent people on a train just to prove a point. The kind of conditioning that makes lives that meaningless to a person cannot be broken in an instant. It would take decades and many, many more attempts of them trying to return to what they knew, because that is what makes sense to them. They'd sooner return to the world where things were simple and there was only one directive to follow: Prepare them for invasion, rather than face the strange, uncomfortable new world of truths and the realities of their actions in context of the lives they've destroyed. TL;DR Omniman should have been a villain till like Season 3. Not an active one. He'd avoid Mark like the plague and instead focus on trying to prove to the Viltrumite Empire that he is still useful and not broken. Mark would encounter more by accident or necessity at times. And it is through those encounters that he will slowly be worn down and forced to realize that he is and has always been wrong. And from there, he'd have to figure out what to do with himself.

@@GH0STY_PRIMEactually no, if the ship were to cross the event horizon it wouldn’t be seen as moving the ship would just stop in place from the perspective of an outside observer meaning the ship never crossed the event horizon and this is not even a sol feat

You know what is surprising the size matters but not in the way that you think the supermassives blackhole has a lesser force while the smalls one have much more force

I'm glad that the show does what an adaptation does best changing certain elements to fix the characters i like That Omni man isn't forgiving and has to atone for all he's done and caused and the fact that the series lets him be emotional is a good thing it's redemption it's atonement as no one really forgives for what he's done
