Guess they weren't ready for the quiet kid to suddenly shank them lol But yeah, pretty much everyone thought that 👀 Some people headcanon that the bat was just for intimidation but still pretty reasonable for Sunny to feel threatened, some people noticed she possibly used her bat and Sunny totally had the right to defend himself with the knife. My two cents : The reason the gang were so suprised might be because they weren't expecting retaliation, causing them all to freak out once blood was shed on their side. Most of em act pretty nonchalant around him after though, with Angel referring to Sunny as "The weird knife guy"(well with the exception of Aubrey, who might be shocked to find her previously timid friend carrying a weapon) Still though, Sunny had the right to defend himself.

It's certainly been a point that almost everyone agrees with for this comment section lol- Personally, I think Aubrey is leaning more into the wrong by bringing the bat and challenging them to a fight in the first place. While Sunny had brought the knife, and there _is_ the possibility of him harming someone with it, I'm going to give him the benefit of the doubt and assume he brings it due to paranoia and doesn't intend on hurting anyone. Aubrey's intent -- Whether using the bat for real or just uses it to seem intimidating -- is something that's also debatable. But in the end, Sunny might've felt threatened and acted in self defense 👀

Sunny really needs better friends because their priorities are all messed up. Aubrey: *holding a bat with nails in which could easily kill someone or give an infection like tetanus and many more* Also Aubrey: Omg he has a steak knife which is a much shorter weapon than my bat so he shouldn't be able to do any damage and I have literal nails stuck to my bat so I can actually do the same damage he can but with a larger range and actually impale them with a nail unlike with a knife. Kel (if you don't use the knife): Sunny that's really dangerous! I'm confiscating it permanently, you are not getting it back which means I'm technically stealing from you even though not only have you not hurt anyone with it but it's also just for show so you can feel safe. Sure, Aubrey has a bat with nails in which (as stated earlier) is more dangerous than your knife and she might've actually used it to kill us unlike you but that's totally not important! (I say might've because I don't think it specifically ever says she uses the bat, but the only attacks in the game I've seen are "headbutt" and "attack" so attack is obviously different to headbutt and it's never specified how she attacks when she does so it's implied she uses her bat.) Kel (if you DO use the knife): (similar to if you don't use it except Sunny's reason for using it is self defense instead of just for show)

Edit : okay, since this meme is still early game, I suppose I'll add a major spoiler warning? 👀 Yeah, it's a little bit of an 'edgy' trope lol. I can't really defend Sunny entirely, but him carrying the knife all the time/ favours using the knife could symbolize the only option he has, which is to attack his fears in his panic, or... It's a reference to Sunny stabbing himself constantly in White space, bringing the grim thought that he constantly wants to kill himself. Though, it really does put a damper on everything once you think about how they're sort of, kiiinda representing people with mental illnesses to be violent, unstable individuals. Now, it COULD work, and while still considered edgy, there's at least a reason for the Main character to carry around a knife. But, here, I really wished they'd go deeper with the knife thing. I feel like we weren't explained enough about why exactly Sunny carries the knife. Sure, escapism RPG world, theorycrafting on how attacking is his only option in face of his fears or a reference to Sunny's wishes to harm himself. But there wasn't enough things told explicitly to my tastes. Kel just sort of brushes off the whole ordeal, and we proceed to have goofy fights with Aubrey's gang. As horrible as it sounds, maybe Sunny could've harmed himself while constantly carrying the knife, but we see no images or evidence of that thankfully. But, that doesn't really help the case of why Sunny carries around the knife, unless.. Point 2) Attacking his fears? Okay, here's what we got, the battle against his fears cannot be won unless he uses his therapeutic skills. Attacking constantly leads to Sunny getting more and more damaged, which may refer to his physical being, but maybe the health bar is more symbolic and instead refers to his mental state. The reason attacking is the only way is because... the game won't let us. That... was a little disappointing. Okay, one can theorycraft with just the "bawa" sound when clicking the run button and go along fine with just that, but I think it would've helped with my immersion if they added just a tad more explicit reason to some of these nightmare fights.
