I have 2 M1 Helicopters from OMP Hobby...this is the best helicopter out there with superb customer service

I absolutely agree with you, they make really solid helis, its the piloting skills that let me down 🤣 but I’m skilled hands it is a joy to watch

OMP M1 is the best micro heli out, had it for over a year now.
@rcpilots12912 жыл бұрын
I agree that it’s a stunning micro heli, Its just that in my hands I found that I was trying to progress way too soon for my abilities… maybe a bit like learning to drive in a Ferrari
@johhny3032 жыл бұрын
i'd probably recommend a heli with a 45 degree flybar as a first heli, then maybe something a little more capable but forgiving like a mcpx. i've just bought myself one of these for Christmas lol first heli in about 7 years since moving away to fly drones and race them.

It is easy to lose orientation with small helis. Have to fly closer.

Thanks for the heads up. I have been learning on the K110 for a couple of months and was considering purchasing the M1. While my skills are improving, I still crash a lot. I was wondering if the M1 would be a little too much for my current skill level. After watching your video I ordered the new K110S. I don't know how it is different from the older K110, but I guess I'll find out. Still plan to buy a M1 when I feel I'm ready.

Hi David I think you’re 100% wise to move to the K 110s, I think the servos are more robust. As for the M1, I have a confession- It flew away on me and was never seen again, I think this happened because I made the move too soon. At this stage I bought a second M1 but I am super cautious flying it . So that’s why I think you’re right to hold off until you know that you’re ready. In my opinion the 110 is so much fun and damage resistant, it may not be super acrobatic but I use it to learn new moves and always have loads of fun because I’m not panicking over breaking a €300/400 machine . Happy flying

Check out the Goosky S1
@rcpilots129111 ай бұрын
Ok, thanks for that recommendation 👍
@nfavor4 ай бұрын
Different tradeoffs for sure. The grips are more delicate on the S1 and since the S1 is smaller, it gets pushed around more in higher winds. It's a good machine and has a better tail but I still prefer the M1 Evo over the S1 after having flow both quite a bit.

@@nfavor agreed with the blade grips. That is the only thing I don't like about it. Small crash and almost guaranteed to warp a blade grip, plus the bearings are nearly impossible to get out
@Aberamentho2010 Жыл бұрын
The M1 & M2 are awesome, but I personally would NOT recommend them to a beginner. If you're just starting out, get something docile like a Blade Nano and work on basic orientations for a few months. It's fairly docile and you won't be afraid to crash. Over grass the thing is virtually indestructible. After that then step up to an M1.

Thanks, that’s power rock solid advice 👍

No ! It's not a matter whether it flies good or not but can you take it off and landing it without breaking blades and once it's crashed can you blueprint it after replacing broken parts.
@rcpilots12912 жыл бұрын
Those are very good points that you raise. My perspective is…. Can a beginner manage to fly out easily??? For me I think it might be too much to handle
@goldnoob61912 жыл бұрын
@@rcpilots1291 I think every one can fly those things once they're mid air the fbl controller does almost everything for you. I remember when I was a beginner I did have problems with take off an landing either main or tail touching something, not even talking about cross wind. They also need some taming so no need for power house direct drive. I also repeat all the way, micro need a governor, OMP cannot be set up for that. For a pure beginner I recommend having and modding the K110, there is no fun missing only pains, OMP is full metal and metal doesn't like crashes. Newbies usually doesn't notice failure.

@@goldnoob6191 that’s pet sound advice, I am a big fan of the xk k110, brilliant for beginners because it’s so lightweight and still quite capable

@@rcpilots1291 Hey again! 🌈 I just went to buy my M1 and it comes with a choice of 2 receivers, OMP Protocol or S-FHSS Protocol. I don’t know what OMP Protocol is but presumably I’ll need the S-FHSS to work with the XK K6 transmitter?? Thanks for your patience! 👍🏻

Do you fly opentx? If so Is there anyway to get your model settings files for the 110 and the m1? I am a beginner to 3d copters and am using different files to learn how it all works.

try flying it close rather than 50 meters high in the air. then you won't loose it. it's not a 600 heli haha
