I think you can use more than one interface in VCV just by using one AUDIO 8 module per interface, no? I made a patch where i had an audio 8 module set to asio and my interface, and then another audio 8 module set to wasapi and sending audio to a plugin in obs for recording, and i imagine you could go on forever

@Steve.Benedict4 жыл бұрын
Hey Omri, I hope you don't mind I have another question on this video. You say you switch to ES-9 since Rack only supports one audio interface in the current version so you can't use the ES-3 and ES-6 together. But you already use the Motu as your audio interface for Rack? So is this also because Motu only has one ADAT connection and that is what you send the ES-9 to? Otherwise you would have to do multi-unit cascade thing or something? Trying to understand some of the details here, I am window shopping hardware and will probably be getting into trouble soon :)
@OmriCohen-Music4 жыл бұрын
Hi Stephen! Well, until I had the ES-9, I used the ES-3 and ES-6, which were connected to my Motu interface (it has 2 ADAT connections). The thing is, the ES-9 is already an interface so I cannot use (for now) the Motu AND the ES-9, which means that I cannot use the ES-3 and ES-6. Now, I only use the ES-9 with VCV. The only way I use the Motu is for amplifying my flute and mic, but it's connected to a separate computer and has no connection to VCV on the laptop. Does this make sense?
@Steve.Benedict4 жыл бұрын
@@OmriCohen-Music Oh I see, yes that all makes sense now. Thank you for explaining! I didn't understand the Motu wasn't even going to VCV Rack...

Lovely set up! I'm curious though, Arbhar, Morphagene, Clouds/Microcell AND Nebulae... Do you think you could make do with, say one or two of those, and if so what one's would keep and why? I ask because I had Clouds and swapped it out for Nebulae. I now have Arbhar and Nebulae, but I am thinking about replacing Nebulae with Morphagene BUT I do wonder if Arbhar is really all I need and I am being greedy...
@OmriCohen-Music4 жыл бұрын
Thanks :) Well, I have to say, Nebulae is a weird one for me. How do you like it? How do you use it? About Arbhar and Morphagene, they're not really the same type of module so I'm not so sure I can decide between them, but i would go with the Morphagene instead of Nebulae for sure. Especially if you have Arbhar already, Morphagene can add a whole different dimension to your case.
@mmturner894 жыл бұрын
@@OmriCohen-Music Sorry, I forgot to say I have Ludadh too, and that + Arbhar is a killer combination... Maybe combined they are somewhere nearer to the Morphagene? Morphagene vs Nebulae is perhaps a better comparison, and I must say the workflow I see on the Morphagene looks great to me. I never really clicked with Nebulae, even though I think it is great and does everything I got it for... Unlike Arbhar that just fits with me really well.. I guess it's just like that sometimes. The coolest thing about Nebulae for me is having pitch and speed independent of each other. It definitely has that over the others, but like you I acquired an ES-9 to use with Ableton and I feel that I can do everything and more to my samples within that much better vs Nebulae. There is also something slightly 'glassy' and 'digital' about the sound of Nebulae when it comes to manipulating samples from vinyl which I do most often.
@OmriCohen-Music4 жыл бұрын
Oh man, nice, you have the looper also. How is it? I'm also not so sure about Nebulae still, I have to see what to do with it... About Morphagene, I guess that it's more of a sampler or a tape machine rather than a granular processor, and that it what makes it so unique. If I were you, I would wait a bit to see what I can get with Arbhar and the looper, or I would sell Nebulae and get Morphagene instead. By the way, is there somewhere I can listen to some of your music/sounds?
@mmturner894 жыл бұрын
@@OmriCohen-Music Lubadh is so good! Probably my favourite module. I love bouncing captured sounds between decks and altering the pitch/speed while modulating the start and end points of a loop for lovely evolving textures. You can get great results very quickly and the sound you get from the inputs gives you a very authentic tape character. The delay and tape decay modes add so many more possibilities as you experiment and see how the two tape decks can react with each other. It is so much more than a looper! I highly recommend it. As for my music, that is a work in progress... I have been a eurorack doodler for about a year now, but I didn't really have an adequate computer to make any finished recordings (spent all my money on modules instead... Not the smartest choice haha) However, I have recently invested in a new Mac and aforementioned ES-9 so watch this space! I plan on being very active with the online modular community from now on :-)
