I've seen it for weeks before, but it still keeps coming back to my memory. It has an unbelievable effect. I watched it a few days ago, it's amazing. Me and my boyfriend sometimes work as movie extras here in Hungary. Only he was cast in it (in the breakfast scenes), I wasn't at all. When I heard from him during the shooting that it took place at a slaughterhouse and its dining hall, I thought it was dull. Little I knew back then what a movie it would turn out to be. I'm very proud of it.

The movie still runs in theaters in Hungary, so there won't be any way to obtain it in the next months... maybe they'll release it around summer, but since Netflix bought the streaming rights and they call it as an original title (despite they don't have any money in the production of the film) pretty sure it won't get released on BD/DVD in the States. Regardless, it's an amazing movie. I watched it back in December and I bought tickets for todays' screening as well. I'm really glad Netflix bought the streaming rights for the US market, it will help to reach a bigger audience for this amazing piece of art.

Altai? You mean Uralic? If you mean that Uralic and Altaic are related, maybe they are but AFAIK most linguists don't consider that to be the case. Ultimately, all languages across Europe, Asia, and India (and likely the entire world) are related, we just don't know how. If you're talking about genetics rather than linguistics, it gets complicated. There was a study that claimed to have found an Oroqen-like signal in Finnish autosomal DNA. There certainly could be an old cultural connection between ancestral nomadic tribes, maybe. IIRC, anthropologists have found a kind of a trail, a continuum of cultural evidence across Eurasia, that tracks some sort of a migration from what is now known as Manchuria to Northeastern Europe. Could it be that a pre-proto-Uralic people came from Manchuria? IDK but it'd be interesting to find out more. You have to remember that although often connected, genetics, language, and culture don't necessarily have to go together. Hungarians are clearly genetically more removed from the rest of Uralic peoples although some sort of a connection can be seen, I believe. Finns again have a relatively large genetic distance between Kuusamo and Helsinki. Also, state borders tend to have an effect on all three, genetics, language, and culture. We may never know how all the peoples and cultures of the world are related to each other because information is lost all the time. Thank the spirits (i.e. vodka) for technology! We have the web (although not quite the open and decentralised utopia that Berners-Lee wanted it to be) and this cool little thing called IPFS as well! Oh BTW you should totally go support archive.org. Oh and I'm no expert in anything, just a shut-in weirdo living on disability.

All languages related but the Uralic languages are farther than others so they possibly isolated itself earlier than other tribes. See this picture its very informative: images.mentalfloss.com/sites/default/files/196.jpg From genetic side much difficult as you said. The Finno-Ugoric tribe was a wandering tribe, they followed the cattle from pasture to pasture, jurtas big wagons, etc. During journeys there was wars, women robbed from other tribes for wife, smaller tribes joined, whole Europe pillaged by Huns, later Hungary suffered many wars against Mongols, Turks, Russians, Germans, etc, they also settled down there, and the extincted regions repopulated from another kingdoms. So Hungarian people have very mixed genetics. I dont really know the Finnish history but i suppose they also mixed with Russian Estonian and Swedish people, there was tribes there before Finn and Sami people settled down, etc. I loved this movie, i think the cuts, views, lights are good especially the forest scenes. Alexandra performance good, she gives back well the autistic attitude. Sometimes shocking. Its an art film for the masses.
