I think the idea of extending the notion of canibalism is interesting, in the sense of thinking the relations between species (domestication, economic production, genetics, ecological warfare, as well as political power and ther origin of the modern State of cereals and cattle). But I should say again: a study that depends on the constitutive alterity of these (canibalistic) relationships. So, the study of the culture of material value, the strangeness of power, and the constitution of cosmic polities (in Sahlins' terms)

I think "canibalism" in anthropology is about its cerimonial aspects in war and affinity, that is: the politics and economy of alterity in many societies (for exemple, take some amerindian peoples and polynesian history and historicity). Not only about the classification of Other, or a inter-especies diet, but a cultural phenomena, as much others.
