Just bought my 1st pair due to your review…I’m a 70 year old woman who walks 4 miles a day and has occasional issues with plantar fasciitis so the cushion is important to me…taking them out tomorrow!

Hiya, I also have issues with plantar fasciitis, it’s a nightmare finding shoes, can I ask if you ordered these & how did you find them? Thanks

@@LauraYT22 I bought 4 different pairs and wore for a hour around the house…I found those with the speed board too stiff through the midline…watched a ton of videos and finally tried the Cloudsurfer (purchased at REI store) Dick’s had them and Fleet Feet in Dallas but not in the blue color…I’m a pretty standard 7.5 but opted for the 8 and they fit fine! I had no breakin period…they are great but do get a little squeaky when wet.

reason that ON shoes can seem to come up on the small/tight side is to be aware of the different conversion from EU/US sizing to UK from a lot of other brands e.g. Nike and Asics UK size 9 is a US-10 EU-44, whereas ON UK size 9 is a US-9.5 EU-43
@TheMassif
@TheMassif Жыл бұрын
And the JP size, in cms, confirms that: 8.5 UK is 27cm, while in other brands is going to be 27.5

The squeak is real in these things. I've done a bit over 50km in them. Last night I took them out in the dry and I could hear them squeaking even with headphones on. I didn't notice any squeak on my initial runs. I first noticed it when I wore them into the office. Embarrassing and I switched shoes halfway through my 10km run last night. My first run was on some slightly wet roads and every run since has been dry. The longer I run or walk, the more they squeak. I'm going to attempt to return them.

I don't normally like the look of the On shoes, not that look should matter but hey I'm human and it does matter, but this looks the best from what they got and the review is the most favourable I've heard.

Found your channel while doing research on picking up some ON shoes. I really like your format for reviewing shoes....getting input from multiple people using the shoes for a variety of different types of running - it provides a great deal more insight than just one point of view. Great content - and wonderful review. I'm a former decent level recreational runner (marathon PB 2:52 - before the days of carbon plates 🤣). Had to undergo a hip resurfacing about 10 years ago and have struggled to get back to the running routine....something about starting back nearly from scratch is a difficult thing when you're used to being fairly accomplished at something. Anyway - solid review and should I get to the point where I'm logging a decent amount of base mileage, I will definitely check out the Cloudsurfer! Cheers.

Am I correct in saying this is an EVA based midsole with holes in it? My mistake 'Clouds' ? Selling at a premium price! I'm curious about the durability of the shoe. Initial impressions seem very positive but how will it fare after 100 miles? I recall years ago how reviewers were singing the praises of Hoka's Rincon (EVA based) then they weren't after durability (midsole and outsole) issues. I wonder how this shoe will be talked about same time next year? I'll wait a year but I'm not sold on it.

I actually ended up buying the Cloudsurfer 7 as it was on sale for around $150 AUD a couple weeks back. Pros: Upper is excellent, comfort great, looks appealing. Cons: EVA midsole gives nothing back, ground feel, feels like a low stack shoe. My pace was slow and I felt I was putting in more effort too. Disappointing. My first foray into ON shoes. Not great. I'd give them 6 out of 10 as it is just a daily trainer, not a versatile shoe at all. I regret my purchase even at the discount price. I think it is a good call to go with the Puma Velocity Nitro 2 over this shoe any day of the week. It's just a much more versatile shoe and a lot cheaper too especially as it is more readily available at good sale prices. Actually, I prefer to run in my old Adidas Boston 9 than this shoe. Similar weight, if not slightly lighter and ride feels better.

I lknow im late to the party, but picked up a pair today off a clearance rack on a whim. Did a 5k this evening in them and really enjoyed them. Relaxed pace easy run, the roll through is so smooth. Great shock absorption, just enough bounce, stable and felt light. My normal recovery shoe is the invincible 3. These arent that bouncy, or heavy for that matter but still plenty of protection. I can certainly see racking up some miles in these, but still going to use the invincible 3 when im feeling burnt for the extra cushion. Didnt try to pick up the speed yet but maybe this weekend. Great shoe especially a year later at clearance pricing.

Bought these shoes from all the good reviews I've seen around. First ON shoes I own as I've known in the past their running shoes werent up to par. I love everything about the shoe (ride, lockdown, heel counter, upper); my only concern is the durability of the midsole. We will see how long it lasts

I have the OnCloud Surfer V5. Probably also my favourite On shoe judging by the amount of times I've work it. Close to 1k km's and still looks great. Now use it for leisure and chasing down the bus but can still rock out a ParkRun when required. This v.7 is remarkably different and I'm keen to try. My only question will be the durability. Without a speedboard to help support the structure, how long will it last? Really keen to hear a long term review. Edit: just heard the part where Kieran mentions the squeaks in damp days. I can relate. It doesn't bother me but it drives my partner nuts when I'm wearing these to the point where she now gives me a weather forecast when we're getting ready to go out 🙈

Sounds good. I've run in several of the ON shoes and they were firm, which I didn't mind, but I didn't like the heel fit, which was not very good and I always had lockdown problems. I wear a men's size 9 regular width and have never had lockdown problems in other shoes.

I am sure this will better if they can add a Outer Heel Counter (as stabilizer) and if they can make the ball/girth fabric mesh area a bit heavy….to complete the stabilization. lt would be great to see the “before and after” appearance of the Midsole, to see the full performance in terms of compression set.

@babyyoda134 Жыл бұрын
@@jonhdoe5051 Saucony Triumph 20 wins. Better midsole and ride. Also, more versatility. For me, the Cloudsurfer is just a daily trainer and I wouldn't even consider it for a long run. Slow recovery runs and slow daily miles whereas the Triumph is much more versatile in as much as it does well for long runs.

Great review! Nice shoe for cooler weather but looks like a no go in the tropics. I bet it would weigh 80 grams heavier after a 60 minute run. Too much extras on the upper and not enough air flow. Not a knock because it would be a non-issue for cooler weather.

This looks like a successful application of Cloud technology. The phased collapsing of the clouds seems to provide good cushion without adding weight to the shoe. It did remind me of Adidas 4DFWD shoe in mechanical movement. My main concern is the long-term durability. As the foam softens the domino effect will take faster, taking away from the dampening of ground reaction forces, in other words, it will probably get flat. I hope you guys can do a long-term review of the shoe.

These were great for me until I ran a marathon in them. Since then they have developed a squeak, seems to be the inner sole moving against the inside of the shoe. Really annoying. They’re also not bouncy anymore and I feel like I’m blowing through the foam and hitting the road below. Almost 200km on them and i think they’re cooked.
