even if i could afford to buy mining stocks i wouldnt because the miners are part of the problem. They have all these risks as laid out by Junius and all those costs and volatilities to face and then they go and sell their metal at dogshit prices. Miners are not my friend. If the miners withheld their metal like the diamond miners the price would shoot up. and diamonds are not rare the supply is just controlled.

The reason I started acquiring the mining stocks is that the down side risk is not nearly as bad as the S&P 500. Those stocks are so over inflated I just can’t bring myself to invest in them. As a contrarian investor, I like to buy stuff that no one else is interested in. It’s not always fun, my portfolio is down around 20% this year, but I can take it. I would not recommend this type of investing to most people.

Mining stocks are only correlated to the spot price of gold, silver, copper etc. Nothings else.

@@JuniusMaltby they can. I made 700% gains on a copper stock and sold near the top. I’ll tell ya though. The amount miners have fallen compared to the pull back in sliver and gold since last year is crazy. Some of them are below the lows of last year when silver was $12 bucks.

Mining companies own vast quantities of precious metals still in the ground. Without them, there would be no Gold and Silver to stack. I own physical and shares!!
