Would you even consider going for a cheaper version for a 2nd and 3rd off-camera flash, something like the Godox TT600? I am just starting out and coincidentally already bought two Godox TT685II before watching your video. I am now wondering if I should have bought one and two TT600's for slave flashes. Any feedback is welcome, I still have the receipts :)

@biscuitarchive it’s really all about your budget. As in everything else in life, the less you spend the less quality, in general you get. So it’s risk reward for what you’re willing to tolerate.

The one feature that I wish modern 3rd party flashes had was Auto Flash. I'm still using my Vivitar 283 and 285HV units with great results and I can go from my Pentax systems to my Nikon systems with no trouble. I even use older Nikon flash units (SB28) with my Pentax cameras in auto flash mode. As far as I'm concerned TTL is a solution to a problem that really wasn't there, except of course to make money for the camera manufacturers. Off camera is no problem as the Vivitar sensors had a remote cord that put the sensor on the camera and the flash on a stand in a softbox or umbrella.

Thanks for the great info. In a previous vid you mentioned the Flashpoint Evolv 200. I'm a newbie so if you had to choose which would you recommend getting first or do you even need both. Thanks again
@CoffeeandPhotographyTalk2 жыл бұрын
Great question! So it comes down to two issues: power and budget. If you NEED more power, evolv200 for sure, if you don't HAVE budget, the TT685... In either case, once you get started with flash you will probably wind up getting a second one down the road because it adds SO much to your photography. They both work very similarly and use the same triggers, so its a good start of a system. Thanks for watching!

These are good flashes for the price. The only downside I really see with them is the aa battery part. Godox introduced a lithium ion battery with the v860ii its a pretty solid battery as well. 200+ shots at 1/1 power. Great value in that flash as well with the same interface and in rechargeable battery. Awesome video as usual!👍🏽

Great explanation! One function that I haven't been able to perform yet is the Godox TT685ii as a "SLAVE" of a speedlight from another brand (Younguo, for example) in the "master" function. Do you know if this is possible? How do I do it?

@@CoffeeandPhotographyTalk OK, thanks for ur attention
@hans-karl Жыл бұрын
As far as I know, that is not possible. The YN and Godox RF (Radio Frequency) protocols are incompatible therefore each brands transmitter can't talk to the other's RF receiver. You can set the godox to manual mode and trigger it with a yongnuo flash. If you want more, you need extra hardware. Yongnuo sells RF receivers, which forward the flash trigger to their flash shoe.
@TZGPhoto Жыл бұрын
@@hans-karl Yeah... I managed to configure Godox's speedlight as 'MASTER' and Youngnuo as 'SLAVE' and it worked. However, using Youngnuo as 'MASTER' and Godox as 'SLAVE' was not possible. Thanks, man!

Does external flash affect camera battery life? My camera battery runs out quickly with the Godox TT685 flash. I know that the flash used another battery from outside the camera but I feel a big difference with the battery when I use the flash
@CoffeeandPhotographyTalk11 ай бұрын
There is nothing about the flash itself that would change the battery usage of your camera. However, something about the MODE you are using the flash in on your camera might... I don't know what this would be, but for instance, if it is using an IR exposure or focusing beam, that might use battery... This is a guess.

These can be confusing to new flash photographers: All ATG/Godox, ATG/Nissin & ATG/Yongnuo DO NOT have ATG Auto2 modes Reason why it was removed because new photographers are lost & don't know how to use ATG Auto2 features (better than TTL). ATG Auto2 was so successful were the ATG's: 1. Vivitar 283, 285, 285HV 2. ATG Gold 60CT-4r, Metz 60CT-1/60CT-2/60CT-4/76MZ-5 3. ATG/Quantum QFlash T series 4. ATG/Canon 580EX II to EL-1 5. ATG/Nikon SB-25/SB-26/SB-800/SB-900/SB-910/SB-5000 6. ATG/Sunpak 522/555/622 Pro and lower models 7. ATG/Jinbei & ATG/Rollei Dominic Wroblewski, many 3rd party have ATG Auto2. Knowing how to use the ATG Auto2 mode provides better results than TTL. Yes, you are correct your Nikon SB-28 has ATG Auto2.

Any flash that works with the automation on your camera will give you auto function. i.e. if you have a Canon and you have a flash that has Canon ETTL built in, yes, it will read the light and expose for you. It's never 'perfect' of course - no automatic function ever is. Thanks for watching!

ATG & I recommend you to ATG/Godox TT350 and this model. * All ATG's Godox flashes have ATG 2.4GHz built-in transceiver like ATG/Canon EL-1 & ATG/Profoto A1. * Park TT350 on your camera hotshoe = can bounce (pop-up flash can't do) * Set parked into Transmitter mode * Set 2nd flash as wireless flash * Now you have two flashes in Group A or into Group A & B
