ON SURREALISM

Schiaparelli was the most surrealistic fashion designer. Her clothes are often compared to wearable art. Her collaborations with Salvador Dalí, Jean Cocteau, Alberto Giacometti, and Christian Bérard, had Coco Chanel, her rival, refer to her as, "That Italian artist who makes clothes" which in her eyes, was a compliment.
