Toby, I love your reviews. Please keep them coming, I'd like to see more than you are publishing. For the yacht manufacturers, here is a hint: There is no better (or cheaper) marketing tool than reviews on KZbin. Invite Toby and let him test your boats. As far as the discovery 58 is concerned, one has to appreciate the the amount of thought that has gone into this design. If I had $1,5M laying around, I'd have only one request. And that's an even deeper cockpit. Think Moody 54 DS.

You've got the best job Toby,and your presentations are really on point and professionally done,i would like an incinerator toilet in a yacht that size if i ever had one,saves having a black tank,everything burns to a sterile ash in about 30 minutes,powered by 12 volt battery as well. A strong solar set up would handle it,as would a decent generator.

i like the style and design but this seemed to appear to be some cramped quarters compared to some similar sized vessels i have seen, i like the amel they look to have a nice roomy layout.

Just a question. Why did you hold watch outside during night passage? I saw you needed full weather gear. Can you use autopilot? The autopilot was failing due to high winds? Or you didn't trust radar or visibility? I am new at this some explanation would be very appreciated!

@@juufa72, thanks for your comments. So in order to stay dry the only boat that offers stearing at watch station is amel and northaven. Discovery, Garcia, jeanneau and all others you have to get out and get all the elements thrown at you. Right?

@@thingsbeensaidanddone.2378 depends what you mean, pretty sure with a modern chart plotter/autopilot system/remote you can adjust the autopilot heading from the raised nav station in the saloon if you want to.

@@tomriley5790, hi Tom a lot of yacht products are advertised as contrôlable from inside but the reality is that you need to get outside to have the nessesary view and response time. Also at high seas some autopilots are underpowered forsing you outside. In the rain and wind. This conversation confirmed my doubts. A motorsailer is maybe the alternative like orion 49 aluminum yacht or nordhavn 56ms. Stearing wheels inside. I am from Belgium. It's cold and brutal on the north sea especially this time of year.

~20% more volume is not a surprise for a boat that is 3 feet longer than a 55. 58 is 5.45% longer, and if you make it 5.45% wider and 5.45% taller you get to 17.25% more volume. 20% isn't a whole lot more than 17.25%

The problem with those videos is they don't show the boat... you talk about the freezer, we don't see it, you don't about the engine room, you barely see the top of the engine... That is what happens when this so-called test is more like an advert for the boats you are showing, What do you expect from a guy who test a sailing yacht on the Solent and gets all exciting to go across to Jersey to test a cruising boat...

I know nothing. That being said, I watch a lot of yacht vids. From the cockpit to the cabin, this looks way more like a 37 or smaller. Odd.

It has a center cockpit that is farther forward on the boat so it wouldn't be that far from the companionway through the salon to the forward cabin but it also has room for that large aft state room. You couldn't fit it all on a 37' boat.

The floor is higher than in other boats, in the other boats you have more space over your head. in this, you can see what is happening in the sea, in others not.

Really? There's a double front berth, shower/head, then the pullman cabins then the salloon, then the cockpit/kitchen/techroom, then the huge double stern cabin - looks big to me!

Who knows? He might be handsome if he would only stop making that excruciating pained expression on his face. What's wrong? It never lets up! I couldn't stand it. I had to quit watching, it was so painful. Just found it again here months later. I finally discovered I could watch by rolling the image up and watching only the lower part. Missed a lot of the boat though.
