People forget sometimes, what real political struggle was all about. This is a reminder.

A wise Colliery Manager once said to me "a pit is only a hole in the ground, it's the people that matter". Unfortunately the two political ideologies driving this dispute were not of this opinion, or chose not to listen to warnings. I saw many of my friends marriages wrecked by the political dogma driving this industrial dispute, sadly some went on to commit suicide.

Great little video. Thanks to the Russians for their donations of parcels with warm clothes. The community was never the same after the strike and I feel fortunate and grateful to have lived in a mining community and to have known close community ties, which included safety, freedom, morality and most of all fun. Great memories.
