Onboard Lifestyle

4 жыл бұрын

This week's episode of Onboard Lifestyle, we finished off a few projects on our catamaran and wait for a weather window to head out and get back to sailing. We were anxious to test our our newly reinstalled main and see how she performs under wind. It was a wild ride with our first overnight passage since our infamous log encounter and we are so happy with her performance as well as how well our crew faired. Time for a little celebration before our next port of call. Come back next week to see what we are up to! See you then!

I don't take it for granite anymore being a ' land lover ', just how much work and dedication it takes to travel across water than land and it means so much more when safety is an issue and putting a dent on the side of my car has a different meaning and cost, than a fender bender on my home.....Happy Father's Day Teal...

Happy to see you are back again, missed you last week. Once you have your cockpit enclosed, it will be so much better for all of you. What a long, long year it has been so far for you guys up on this part of the coast, cold and wet and waiting for those weather windows, makes it ever so long. Will it ever end😞. Hopefully one day you guys will be in a place with light blue calm waters and sunny days. We are looking forward to those days, in the meantime continue the journey, sale safe.

All that weight reduction and basic construction of your boat makes it super fast compared to most of the barges being put out by the major builders of cats today. Makes me wonder if any cats today use the construction material that your boat is made with and if not why not, so many boats with balsa core waiting for the rot to start.

We bought our Landfall 39 at Lake Union and outfitted her there which took a while, so when it was time to come to Vancouver we had to make a fast trip (MOTORING ).. 4 days and nights!!!! No sailing BOORING. Surprise---- The Columbia Bar was almost a mirror. Hope the rest of your trip down this part of the Pacific Coast is as good Thanks

I can understand the Captain here. He has not sailed in what at least 10 years? And now you do start down the coast after the first sail running into a log. And your sailing literally a brand new home made boat who has not proven itself whatsoever. We have watched Teal build this thing and I would assume we probably believe in his craftsmanship more than he does. I know I suffer from perfectionism myself and something is ever good enough where your not second questioning yourself. So congratulations to a successful passage!!

As much as we would love to stop in Bandon, its a little too small for us. We have already check these areas as we were mapping our our sail plan for the Oregon Coast. A lot of these areas have shoaling and would be hard for us to navigate into. We are trying to avoid the smaller marinas if possible.

Hurray. Compass got the most screen time ever. Of course it’s not enough but it’s a start. Oh going out the door where is Compass’ combo life vest and harness? Does he have an AIS personal beacon so he can be rescued? If he had an address I would ship him one. And on my boat, I rearranged the instrument and nav light switches into row top left so no fumbling in dark or emergency. Just another Teal project! Stay safe and healthy including you, Compass.

The Pacific Northwest is one of the most dangerous coasts to travel, no matter if it is a sailboat or a motor yacht. The Sudden storms on the coast make it very dangerous and that is why, unless you are at least 100 meters and very knowledgeable you will have problems with insurance.

Could you set up a hammock under your front cross beam? It looks like you have two tracks for your anchor chain. Is that for two anchor's? I'm very blown away at the speeds you got while you just had a sliver of your jib up. That's impressive. I guess it's both the design of your boat and the light weight construction of it that gives you that high performance factor. You missed Tillamook, OR where they have the Tillamook cheese factory free tour. That's a great place to visit. Another great place to visit would be the Redwood Forest. My guess is that your next destination will be Coos Bay or Gold Beach.

Linh, I know you had a little wine, but it's "Vancouver Island" 14:53 where you will find Victoria- you are welcome back any time! With the jib furled 50% and you are still doing 5+ knots in light winds, SV Basik is going to fly if you let her go!

Lol, Linh always says Victoria instead of Vancouver because she thinks of Victoria BC. No matter how many times I remind her, she has it stuck in her brain. Its still pretty funny.
