Would be cool if the sabre-toothed cats could come back. Unfortunately, in North America humans wiped out all the horses and camels that had no fear of them, thus leading to the extinction of all the predators that relied on them for food.

If you build a new home in the big cat's backyard, you just may get what you deserve. The solution is to stop building new homes in wooded areas unless you are prepared to accept the consequences. There are more than a million homes that already exist in the US that may or may not need some basic repair. Buy one of those.

I know they were there first, but once suburbia pops up, they no longer need to be there. They wind up being hit by cars, or possibly attack a kid and have to be euthanized. It's too risky for the cat to leave it there.
