Shawn have you run across a product called Salt-away (I get it at West Marine)? It’s a biodegradable wash down for salt removal. It fabulous... I’m like you I’m a clean fanatic and use to hand the wash the bright work with boat soap and water. Now when we get back from a trip I rinse all of the exposed areas with the salt-away applicator and then rinse with fresh was the salt is gone. Then go over the bright work with micro fiber and it looks great. Still wax it all 2 times a year. Also use the Salt-away on our engines.... keeps scaling down on the interior of the heat exchange surfaces. Excellent Post...Looks like your having an Indian Summer in the GNW... Enjoy!

Hmmm. I have a friend who is an Industrial Engineer. If you invited him aboard he would happily live in the engine room for two weeks - by which time he would have you cruising at 45 knots without any increase in fuel consumption. He designed the machines that build the engines of the cars on the Ford lines. People like that are great to know....

@@mvfreedom if you want healthy ..1) remove gluten completely from your diet. 2) remove as much High Fructose Corn Syrup from your diet. 3) only use "natural fats". Like olive oil, butter, lard and bacon fat because your body knows how to "deal" with them. We have done this and the results are, much lower cholesterol, overall well being with less body/joint aches and weight loss. Everything in moderation. It is easy to do. @mvfreedom
@mvfreedom 3 жыл бұрын
No because the water temps in Puget Sound don’t freeze or get below low 50’s. And our engine doesn’t have sea water in it, it’s keel cooled.
@Colinpark
@Colinpark 3 жыл бұрын
@@mvfreedom I put block heaters in two boats that I ran for the Vancouver Maritime Museum, one keel cooled and the other with seawater exchanger, what I found is the block heater kept the 671's nice and warm and that kept the boat drier inside as they act as a big radiator. These boats sat more than yours so the effect will be less for you and your engine is more protected, along with being a 4 stroke (2 strokes are cranky when cold!) All in all I found them to be quite beneficial, even in our more temperate climate, I suspect the installation would be easy for you, and might make a good backup heat source when you have shore power. Cheers and may your drains remain hair free!

I'd plunk down the downpayment cabbage on a brand new Nordhaven but designed exactly as you would like as you're already an owner operator and I think would make for positive vibes for everyone but especially Nordhaven. One guy I watched has owned 7 of them i think to include KatyKrogens as well but nothing beats new from the Factory and this is a West Coast thang so it doesn't get any better since you're already out that way. The Alaska Crab Boat crazies run 300 footers if I remember right and that's from 35 years ago so this brand is making mere corks in the storm compared to that.

It’s very easy! Crumble is 2 c. oats, 1/2 c. fine almond flour, 1/4 c. coconut sugar or brown sugar, and enough butter or coconut oil (soft not melted) to form crumble. The base is sliced apples, pears, cinnamon, few splashes of whiskey and 4 tbsp. maple syrup. Bake 375 degrees F for 60 minutes or until apples are fully cooked! Gosh SO MUCH is different. Puget Sound is calm, absolutely stunning views, whales, seals, sea lions, bald eagles, mountains, heaven! Great Lakes are rougher than an ocean most days, not much scenery, no wildlife and not much scenery. The only thing we miss about the Great Lakes are the beaches of western Michigan. White sand, sand dunes, amazing! Also big tidal swings in the sound vs no tides on Lake Michigan.

LOVE both the bars and the city. The first time we were there we stocked the fridge with the bars from the bakery at the dock 👍

Not withstanding the insurance requirements a marine surveyor will look at the boat objectively and spot any potential problems that you may miss due to being all glassy eyed at this point. I live in Australia and our yacht is insured for normal use but if we are going racing offshore that needs to be extended and if we want to sail to a pacific island then another policy needs to be purchased before leaving our territorial waters. As for forward facing sonar, fishermen like them but for the expense scouting in the tender works fine, we have a portable sounder for the tender.

We haven’t gone to Alaska yet but plan to in 2021. It’s possible in the winter although not as enjoyable...lots more rain and storms.

Hey, did you ever consider lithium batteries? Didn't find a lot of info on power boats, usually used a lot on sailing boats but I am curious if it would be worth.

I've been installing more lithium this year, but prices are only just starting to become attractive. Powerboats generally have enough generation sources (main engine alternators and generators) that owners aren't as concerned with long-durations w/o recharge since they are recharging any time they are underway as compared to sailors who (ideally at least) aren't running a power source underway.

We are considering lithium but since we replaced our AGM’s last summer we’re waiting until they’re ready to be upgraded.

This is what I made, but there’s a better recipe at sallysbakingaddiction.com/salted-caramel-apple-pie-bars/ Here’s my “healthier” version. After it cools a bit, enjoy with ice cream and Reddi Whip 👍👍👍

If you’re not a licensed Captain you’ll need a boaters safety in most states. Shawn’s a Capt and I have my boaters safety, soon to be Captain this winter!

Anything that lives on the water & that you live in will eventually have a problem, minor hopefully. Blocked drains are typical. As for the leaks up top, anytime you drill a hole in something just with expansion & contraction you risk a leak. Just reseat & use good sealant & your good to go. Why do you think the big yachts have a full-time crew. They are always working on maintenance issues. If I had the money Nordhavn (60) would be the only choice.
