Grew up in Seattle. Pearl Jam was the 90's soundtrack of my life and still is. When I experienced some of the most meaningful moments of my life, through love, loss, happiness, grief, success, failure, inspiration, and redemption, Pearl was there lifting me up and making sure my world rocked!

One morning 25ish yrs ago as my wife was taking kids to school "Better Man" came on. She joked to the kids "Why is she looking for the BUTTER Man?" From then on Butter Man was OUR lyric for the song. FFW to 2021 when this incredible mom and wife and Love Of My Life lay silent, motionless in ICU hospice. She was in her final hours and no longer speaking. Late that night I got up to use the bathroom in her room. I came out and sat beside her to hold her and watch her every breath as it may be her last. Suddenly, in the tiniest whisper she said the most beautiful thing imaginable to me. "I found the Butter Man." Hearing her sweet voice again I broke and as I wept I blurted "What? Where? Where did you find him?" She took a moment then whispered to me "In the toilet." Her "Butter Man" had just come out of the bathroom. It was me! Those few beautiful words to me were her last and she passed a few hours later. True story and I'll forever cry when I hear Better Man. Special thanks for this one fellas!

One of the greatest live performances I ever saw was the one time I saw PJ at Lollapalooza in 1992. Haven’t seen ‘em since, just unlucky I guess. But the 1992 performance was just astonishing: in the first half, Eddie stopped the band and called attn to a woman who was being crushed against the barrier close to the stage. He got the roadies and security over there pronto to help her out. Then the band picked up on the note they left off on. During one of the last songs they played the band went into an extended jam while Ed climbed the stage rigging to the top. Then he stumbled along the tarps covering the roof and started climbing down the other side. About 25-30 ft above the ground he jumped and they caught him like he’d landed on a mattress. He sank into the crowd and when the roadies finally hauled him out, his shirt was GONE. Got back up onstage and they finished up. It was about 50 mins of pure nuclear energy.

Pearl Jam has brought me so much in my 32 years. They've provided the soundtrack to every decade, with different songs associated with each. Their music has empathized with me when I've felt heartbreak, sorrow and loss, then built me back up to celebrate the good times. Through the band, I've made lifelong friendships, traveling around new countries, making the best memories and connections. I've sang my heart out alongside fans eho are just as in love with them as i am and felt our collective energy transcend. So really, all I can find the words to say to them are - thank you, so very much. You don't know me, yet you're a huge part of my life and I'm forever grateful 💜

Like Eddie, I was also born in the 60's in Illinois. Walter Payton was an incredible inspiration to those who watched him be the toughest guy on the field every week. I've been able to push myself through some tough times just because Walter had provided the blueprint on how to be tough. As a young teenager and listening for the first time, Who's Next was a musical revelation like no other. For me, the only other album that was similarly mind-blowing was Selling England By The Pound.

I picked up Pearl Jam the summer of 2000 in Seattle And I was captain of their private jet charter for the rest of the summer because I didn’t want to get ioff because we were having so much fun. Usually I would work one week on and one week off, but I told my boss that me and the flight attendant wanted to stay on. I was familiar with the name of the band, but I didn’t really know their music so I bought the CD Ten And immediately fell in love with it❤. Since I didn’t know who the members of the band were, I picked out the two people that I thought were probably the stars… And there were two guys that sat in the back of the airplane next to the flight attendant galley galley and I assume they were the roadies. I would ask them “ How is the band doing?” And they would say “fine”. After about two weeks of this, my best friend from Seattle called me and said “ Have you met Eddie?” I asked the flight attendant who Eddie Vedder was? And she said “your buddy”.. So Eddie and Stone led me to believe they were the roadies… I know they got a giggle at that. It was a beautiful summer. We ended in Jones Beach where they are absolutely adored. Eddie gave me a big hug As we said goodbye because they were not returning home with us. I love this band❤

To me, their recent albums, unlike those of a lot of older bands, still feel like the band isn't TRYING to make albums, the music is just flowing from them. If that makes sense. Bands early in their careers are full of passion and inspiration that flows onto the page and into their sets, while older bands tend to me to be trying to regain something. Pearl Jam in their 60s still feel like the music is flowing onto the vinyl. We missed our chance to see them in 2015 when NC's Republican legislature passed an anti-trans "bathroom bill" and the band (rightly) boycotted. Still hoping to see them someday.
