thnx. I could try and copy this claasic note 4 note but that a) wouldnt be fun and c) would be doomed to fail. Wasnt this just one of Floyd's special tracks? Unigue. Exceptionlly imaginative and creative, Fairly easy to copy and approximate, but impossible to re-create evry nuance, Impossible, Always loved it. Love it!!!:-)

When David Gilmour demonstrated playing this riff on the EMS Synthi "A" as you would see in the Classic Albums episode documenting _The Dark Side of the Moon_ he plays this sequence of notes slowly, and then he gradually speeds up the sequencer to get the final result.

Yes. Moved house. My Gilmourish rig too loud for the new house so I figured synths would be a fair swap. Nice noise without blowing the walls out. lol :-) Made a fortune when I sold my Pete Cornish pedal.. helped pay for the minimoog.

I wish you could do a cover of the Alan Parsons Project's "I Robot" song from 1977. I wonder if the Moog would emulate the clavinet loop perfectly?

Just the mxr micro amp, Boss tuner... a cheap chorus and echo unit.. loads of leads and patch cords and a whole bunch of great memories. And an acoustic geetar.

Nice work. Didn't you have a bunch of guitar vids up on youtube? Floydy stuff?

This is really cool. Good on you for not copying it exactly, there's no point in that. Might as well change it even more and make it your own... I have no idea why people are taking exception with that

Pretty cool synth. Nice to see it recorded so unconventionally as well. All the same, DX7's and in particular the DX7S + FDII Truely run circles around most everything by Moog, Roland, Sequential Circuits and ARP. Only a CS-80 + Elka Synthex or an OBX or OBXa stand a chance against a DX7 when programmed correctly. Don't believe me? Refer to DX7 DEMO 1 on youtube and prepare for complete vintage synth euphoria!!! FM-Synthesis simply cannot be under estimated. 180,000 units sold in the 1980's !

@JonathanAschalew hi. The riff is done on a microkorg. Hence the wrong notes /pattern... THE best sounding analogue modelling filters by far. The rest is the moog.

It wasnt a pre set - I used a couple of square waves with the arp and fiddled with the filter and phaser effect till it sounded ok.

Which patch preset did you use on the microkorg?
@hafstrat15 жыл бұрын
Yeah I know - it just a very quick approximation. I really need to re do a proper job now I have the Micron on which to run the loop. And thanks for your comment! Anyone got a micron patch to share? Ta.

Fun! Love it. Nice to just piddle around and emulate known sounds. I like this it is very human. Nice to see a big kid get to play with his toys. Soothing and Relaxing. Great Job. Who cares about note for note exact replication? That would be a bore. This is awesome in itself. (If you need a perfect replica folks, pop on the original!)
@blueleadguitar12 жыл бұрын
This is just my opinion. Great though digital synths are, these fantastic analogue machines are superior, because you really have to experiment to get the sounds you require. Sure digital synths have all the sounds and mod cons etc but there's nothing lke creating a 'new' sound on something like a Minimoog, wish I had one......
