The Council of nerds classify a world war as having a participant or colony from every continent be involved. This is not a world war as both South America and Africa had no contribution. Brazil fought in both world wars and Africa had many European colonies fighting each other.

Actually the 7 years war started outside Pittsburgh. Washington was sent to "the forks of the Ohio river" to tell the French, that this was Virginia territory. A French Officer was killed, in America this started the "French & Indian War, which spread to Europe as the 7 year war.

In America the seven years war is called the French and Indian War. It was George Washington who started it with his ill advised actions at Fort Necessity South of Pittsburgh. The war was fought on several continents. In effect, Washington started the very first world wide war. It did not endear him to the Brits.

And the debts that the British incurred to fight that war, they tried to settle by imposing new taxes on the colonies, such as the stamp tax and the tax on tea. And this led, indirectly, to the revolutionary war.
@macbethhm
@macbethhm Жыл бұрын
Because the colonies started the war when Washington killed a French officer in North America. It’s only fair that the English aristocracy, (founding fathers) who made so much more money than they ever could in Europe, be taxed on what they made. Furthermore the southerners of the 13 colonies feared the British would take their slaves away since parliament viewed slavery as abhorrent. That along with not allowing the British of the 13 colonies to move into Native American territory because the British government had treaties with them.

The colonists were charged a fraction of the taxes that the British paid. They didn't want to pay for the war. Look it up.

It was won due to luck and strategy the goal of the british was to cease french colonies while sending large amounts of money to the prussians who would in turn fight for the british in europe... Additionally its important to note that catherine II died during this time and her predecessor Peter didnt want to fight prussia and in fact admired prussia and send most of the men whom were invading prussia to help prussia. Bit misleading, makes it sound like the Prussians won the war for Britain when they were very close to being fully invaded and was only saved by the fact that the Russian monarch died and was replaced by a man that was a huge fan of Frederick. Switching sides and doing whatever he could to aid. Britain actually had huge success during the war, kicking the French completely out of India and North America (with the aid of native American tribes). It was said that for many weeks, the bells of victory rang all across Britain. The French gained much larger debt than the British and is one of the contributing factors that led to the French Revolution. Britain had so much success that near the end of the war as Prussia was close to full defeat that the British felt Prussia did not contribute as much as they did.
