I'm fortunate to sit beside fine drivers like Mark W and Andrew B. Just for the record, in previous years on Mt Roland, also in the wet, Andrew drove his previous car - a FD RX7 to a 12:38 time on this stage, to be not just quickest 2WD, but also quicker than the AWD Early Modern cars. But in 2022 we did 14:10, more than a minute and a half slower. With the brake problems we'd had before lunch, he was naturally cautious while rebuilding confidence. However we also had a 200 km/h hard limit in 2022, and in previous years with no speed restrictions and without the RTZ zones I'm guessing the RX7 would have considerably faster on some of those long straights.

Loving the videos - would love to do this in my 8. You lads should move the switch for your comms, even a tough on/off button would help!

That was a seriously good drive & note calling as you can get from a stage in TT - Cethana / Mt Roland was my favorite stage in the whole event - and the goal was always ( because we were usually in an old vehicle ) at least to get to Day 4 for Cethana ! thanks for the memories !!

Great driving and co-driving. Found myself steering my phone to your calls to see if I could keep up. Great work boys and RIP to Tony Seymour.

Great Work Stu, Takes a bit to believe the wheels wont lock up when you touch the brake pedal. It makes it easier with your calm calls

Thanks but quite a few calls not early enough. More practice needed. Bring on Mount Baw Baw next month!.

Great to watch, those roads are very sketchy when wet and you both do an excellent job. Not sure which of you has to work hardest

Definitely Andrew. But thanks.

I was thinking the same. Very clear concise notes and repeated when required. I could even keep up 🤣

Intense! Used to do track days with Andrew when he ran the RX3 and I had standard S1 RX7

Do you know who built the engine for this car , my understanding is the turbo for the sp rx8 was specially designed to be closer to the motor. I'm not sure how you keep so calm in the passenger seat, I'm pretty sure I would be hysterical not holding the steering wheel. 😊

The car is a bit of a hybrid - not exactly the same as the original SP cars. Andrew (the owner/driver) and Ric Shaw built the motor. Ric Shaw Rotary is easily found on the internet. Yes, navigating it not for everyone. Some drivers can't do it at all. Some drivers are very good at it. It's really not hard if you trust the driver (and he/she trusts you). All you need is the ability (a) to concentrate and not get distracted by stuff that's not relevant to your job and (b) not get carsick. Which is something you can actually practice. First tip - hold your notes high, so you're not looking up and down all the time. Your new career starts today, Mr Dude!

Thanks for your reply, by hybrid do you mean GSLSE rotor housings and rx8 end and center plates? I'm guessing the original sp turbo was mounted to maintain the front mid engine aspect of the RX8. Have heard of Ric Shaw and am aware that he has built a few of the cars in the RX8 race series may have a chat with him. Thanks again.

@@ADudesRotary Definitely a question for Ric. I have no idea, sorry
