Only one F1 era that I could approve and respect is 80's F1. No annoying paddle-shifters or anything "modern" "hi-tech" things involved. Only raw, brutal and sharp mechanical machines and pure human skills and instincts. Precise acceleration, braking and throttle control, manual gear shifts with heel-toe, thousands manual shifts per race when one mistake with it could costs several positions or a whole race. This is true face of motorsport. I'm not a fan of F1, but THIS THING is entrancing me. Excellent camera views in a best tradition of legendary "Grand Prix" and "Le Mans" films. This channel dedicated to the most sohpisticated drive-addiction.
@TassieLorenzo11 ай бұрын
But Lotus came out with active suspension only a few years later and Mansell also drove the very first of the paddle shift cars in the Ferrari 640 in the 80's? Formula 1 is always about the engineers pushing the cutting-edge, isn't it? Heck, by the time of this car, Grand Prix cars were fitted with "modern" radial tyres which stopped the cars sliding around anywhere near as much compared to the bias ply tyres used in the 70's.

This is what Ford V Ferrari should have been like. I know a lot of people love that movie but I just didn't find the racing all that exciting. I own and drive a 1991 Honda Accord LX sedan. It has 81,000 miles. Now, why do I drive something as old as me? The experience, I have No ABS, TCM, no electronic aides' period. I get a thrill out of pushing my baby to the limits of what its capable of (trust me I've hit that thresh hold many times and I'm still alive) You don't get the excitement driving a car with all that fancy driver's aides. I don't even have airbags, that's what driving this thing with maybe 100 horsepower can provide. Until you've locked out all four tires on the interstate with nothing but my skills as a driver can bail me out of, its bliss

I grew up in Seattle, with a friend who’s Dad owned and exhibition raced Mario Andretti’s JPS in the late 80’s/early 90’s, where I was tasked with levels of responsibility that I really had no right to have. He trusted my thought processes, having done multiple other assignments for him prior, and he even let me suggest minor changes to the shifter linkage, as he had mentioned he needed more room between the shifter and the interior cowling for his hand. I made those changes, and he thanked me afterwards. I was 21 years old. Such an amazing experience. I LOVE watching TRUE analog cars, without anything keeping them racing other than the driver and real mechanics. No ABS, traction control, paddle shifting, etc….. Sure- todays car are much quicker, but I still love the older levels of skill that were required.
