Ye very true, like yourself I raced quite a bit for a factory single seater team when I was younger. Using 2nd gear in a tight corner may slow your acceleration a minimal amount but in turn you get an increase in traction :) common sense, it may seem slower buts its substantially faster. Great stage drive none the less, not an easy job rallying a RWD metzger 6 powered Porsche :) respect!

I could have told by the effort being put into the control of the car that they were going quite fast though :-) I wanna get me one of these! :-)

Yeah, pity we don't see the speedometer to get an idea of what speeds they are doing on each gear. It doesn't "look" that fast, but from the way they fight to keep control at times, you know it's fast!

I'd assume that the purpose of dropping to 1st gear would be using it as engine brake to slow down the car even more, I also noticed that he shifts 1st gear around 5k where other gears are shifted at redline, so that means he barely gives any throttle when he's in 1st gear..., just my thought, i'm not too sure either lol

Doesn't look that fast? :D look bellow the rpm gauge you can see the speed. Don't expect a rally car to go 200+, we use close ratio's to get good acceleration.
