Hi, Amy. I just love watching your videos. My grandparents had 14 children, and luckily, I grew up with them. They were still making babies after I was born. Now I am 50, my children are all out on their own and I am now cooking for only 2, It is horrible. Your prepping videos warm my heart.

back story- we were 10 at our largest. down to just 4 now. 6ft 2 14 yr old (#3 son)and little man. little man is cp/Autistic. I became disabled 4 yrs ago after a deadly infection and a severe allergic reaction to medications. today- I still cook this way. but it lasts us months now. it saves us so much money and on the many days I am physically unable to move daddy and #3 son can fix good meals quickly with prep we were able to do on a my good day. learning to cook this way has been a Godsend in our lives. takes so much stress out of our daily lives and out of our meager food budget. love your vids. gives me great ideas and reminds me of the lovely chaos our world was before.

Amazing how the kids can help more. I have an idea. Buy another rack for your oven. I took my rack to my sisters when we made Christmas cookies and it help speed up the baking immensely. I’m sure you can buy one somewhere. Another hint. If you need a bigger mixing container, use a Sterilite storage container. We make our big batches of potato salad for events in one. Probably not optimal for hot food though. Thanks for sharing!

you could use the bacon grease for your cream of mushroom soup (or something like it - chowder, mac'n'cheese, what have you) if you're using butter anyway. adds flavour without costing extra. i'm a big fan of letting nothing go to waste, as i'm certain you are too. the beacon grease also refrigartes well for any other time.

Yay, ran out to Aldis, they had the smaller pan with a lid and a large saute pan with a lid. Moment of truth was it really the thin pan or the bad cook? We will see. I made pinto beans, chili, yogurt and granola bars. Then it dawned on me, four adults and three children moved out two weeks ago, cooking is going to be EASY. I don't really have to do a whole lot of prep work. Made a Walmart order went from 400-600 a month to 200.00. I only have me, my grandson and 5 little kids to feed now. Yay life is getting easier, God heard my weary prayer and answered. Love you and all of your wonderful family. Thanks for motivating me to realize my great blessings of not having such a full plate. I am truely thankful. Praying it was thin pans not bad a bad cook.

Do you guys ever make sloppy joes? Thats one of our favorites. You can make a tortilla strip soup and use those taco shells crushed up in it along with cheese. Something we made growing up was what my grandma callled a tostada stack casserole. You could use taco shells broken up on the bottom instead of tortilla chips, then spread out warmed up/thinned out with a bit of water beans, tip with some browned ground beef, cheese and olives, and bake @ 350 for 30 minutes or until everything is heated through and the cheese is melted. Then pull it out and spread a layer of cream cheese, sprinkle with diced tomatoes and green onion and cilantro if you like it. Then we also liked to put slices of avocado and you just serve up a square, and its sooo good!

I have 7 in my house... only 3 are mine but we are feeding everyone on a limited budget. We homeschool also so everyone is home all the time. I'm the only one who cooks and we can't really afford a lot of fast or frozen stuff and to eat healthy foods at the same time. The freezer meal prep videos give me so many ideas! Thanks so much for all the inspiration!

DLR Young. Saffron is much more expensive versus turmeric. That's why ppl use turmeric over saffron. But be careful not to use too much Bec it can overpower the dish. also, it stains ur fingers if touching w hands.

I love watching your food prep videos, I don't do much batch/prep cooking right now but want to do more. I did a double batch if bread yesterday which gave me 12 loaves. I had a thought when I watched you make the mushroom and chicken soup; if someone wanted to they could make a big batch and then can it instead of freeze it. Though you would need to pressure can it. That way you just take it off the shelf and warm up.

I can relate to your life style. I also have a large family. I also prepare lots of food in advance but i try to be more health concious. I am a chef and did catering for many years. I just wanted to tell you that i think your food would really taste just as nice if you reduced the amout of sour cream and cheese you use. Also i wanted to give you a tip. I make tones of meat balls. Just mixing ground beef, bread crumbs, eggs and spices. Then i boil them and freeze in ziplock bags. Then you can pair them with tomato sauce and spaghetti, mushroom sauce with rice and a side of broccoli or onion sauce with mashed potatoes and green beans. Or any sauce you like really. Countinue your good work. It's nice to see that I'm not the only one with a crazy lifestyle; )

Such a great idea to pre-cook and chop up the bacon! Recipe ready! You taught me a new "trick": watched you do your yeast bread mixing and kneading altogether in a large bowl. Did it that way when I made dinner rolls recently and it worked great! No more flour all over the counter any more...just use my largest bowl for the whole process. Thanks, Amy. (:

If you have the storage space, you could alternate what you buy. One month stock up on 2 months worth of freezer stuff and then the next month do pantry. You could take your coolers with you in case you find great deals on meat or cheese.

Amy, Thanks for the idea of cooking and freezing my ground beef. I normally have to wait on it to cook. The only time a don’t scramble it is to have hamburgers. This will definitely make it easier on me. I’m really getting great ideas from you. My children are grown it’s just my husband and I but I work full time and find myself rushing to get dinner done. Thanks again for sharing! BTW- Walmart has the meat masher. I got mine there last year. I just seen them the other day so they still have them. Not expensive at all.
