As a dutch person this wil always be hard to watch. But after watching these episodes I understand better why every match between us and the argentines get very heated. I really hope we can once win a world cup and I am certain we have to get through argentina.

Dutch people really deserves a WC trophy by now. As an Argentinian myself, I grew up taking the Netherlands almost as a derby match.. I didn't have a cardiac arrest that day just bc there's a God up there

Man I completely agree, as a big time dutch football supporter (35 games attended so far) this match upset me massively, but I can also see the beauty in the Argentina story. In 26 I will go to the world cup for the first time and while the dream is ofcourse winning the tournament, beating Argentina in a knock out game would be a success for me. (Miami sounds like the perfect place for it 😏)

I watched these matches at the office. I used to smoke back then. I think i finished 3 cigarettes while waiting for additionals, which meant going outside in 40° weather for a smoke. Now the final? I didnt smoke for the whole day. It was not suspense or stress. I had deposited my trust in these guys. 2 Years later i quit smoking, but i still remember the awful taste of 3 cigarettes worth of stress in this match. What a win.

I remember watching the final at my friend's house. I'm Argentine BTW. I puked right after the final whistle. That's how nervous we were. What should have been an easy victory turned out to be like that. Mainly due to Scalonis stubbornness in not making many substitutions at around the 65th minute. Many players were gassed out by then.
