They will always love each other because they were first loves but i think emma wants to move on. Of course it's a given that she'll have a place of love for him in her heart, but that isn't something to get pressed over. You don't worry about an ex hurting you again if you're now in a neutral place with them. She never really got over him. And they presented her as still being in love with him.

(Or she chose Tallahassee) and 1 week later, Neal finds out that Emma is wanted for stealing of watches in the city of Phoenix and advises him to go to the police and she agrees to go to the police for love of neal and he decides of retrieve the watches . and a month later (While than Emma is in prison) Neal recovers the watches And meet August And he speaks to him of emma and Neal Decides to go see the chief of fireman And to tell emma that he died saving a family from a fire,And decides to give a letter of love for emma to auguste And give her if she discovers the truth about magic or if the curse is broken,And when emma leaves of prison she goes to see the chief of fire and suspects that neal is always alive.

This secret was the reason Emma could never really be with Neal again. Because although she loves him and he loves her, and he hurt her to help her, she could never truly forgive him. There would always a part of her that would resent him for what he did, for not looking for her or fighting for her. And he hurt her so bad her greatest secret was she wished he was dead. :(

Neal was not Emma's true love. I think the journey of couples in the show was to find their true love. I don't think it was fan pressure to put hook emma together I think early on they had a great journey together as a couple and it was natural that they fall in love and be each other soul mates. If Emma ended up Neal she would have settled, for Henry sake, for the sake of loving him once, but with Hook he took her whole heart not pieces of her.

It amazes how much alike are both Emma and Snow. Snow wanted to forget about Charming, she chose to run away from her feelings and drank that potion in order to be free of her feelings regarding Charming. And Emma is doing the same exact thing! She's running. She's running away from her feelings. There's simply a lot of parallels between Snowing and SwanFire. They're endgame, while it's been hinted that Tink will end up being Hook's happy ending.

I am a big captainswan shipper but I do see the swantheif in this scene, Emma and Neil did truly love each other and I do believe that she still loves him, but there is to much pain and I really don't think she can live with this pain anymore. So many quotes say you will never forget your first love and I do believe (even though I don't ship it) that Neil and Emma are each others first loves. But I don't think they are true loves, even though Captain Hook might not be her true love(although I hope he is) I do believe there is someone else that is Emma's true love, it's not Neil

Suuure, Hook and Emma are more a "interesting" pairing... But truly, Neal and Emma were a beautiful one. The one that seemed real. Why do so many shows these days have such twists? They slowly destroy the most pure relationships just so they could pair up one person from that relationship with someone else, because they have some sort of "wicked chemistry." The "Captain Swan" shipping really didn't do well for Hook's and Emma's characters. "Swan Thief" however... Tragic, really. :(

I'm sorry and no one kill me but I don't get how this is a happy moment between Emma and Neal. Yes, they were each others first love and honestly you will never ever forget your first love no matter what anyone says. But Neal broke her heart, I cant even imagine being alone for your whole life and then finally finding someone to love you but then he leaves you and for 10 years you were thinking he didn't love you. But Emma wished he was dead which shows me she doesn't want to be with him anymore and all she wants is to move on from him. I'm sorry but first love doesn't make it true love. Yeah, I'm just not buying Morrison's acting when it comes to the Captain Swan relationship on this series. I recall seeing this scene for the first time when the episode aired and my stomach turned knowing the writers were starting to force-feed this CS nonsense upon the viewers. Emma couldn't even freakin stand Hook at this point in the show. +xRaineDropsx Because a bunch of vocal fans preferred the prettier, one-dimensional Hook character to the less attractive, gritty, multi-faceted Neal character! The acting is so much better here. Emma shows genuine emotion with Neal because she's loved him more than anyone. Morrison tries to do it with Hook, but it's just not there. And it's sad, too, because otherwise I find her to be an excellent actress on this series. It's weird that Emma ends up with Hook because she's literally had more chemistry with every other actor she's been "paired" with: Graham, August, Neal, but NOT the guy she's going to end up with! I think the writers literally flipped the script in the summer between Seasons 2 and 3 and opted to go with Captain Swan over Swanfire due to fan pandering.

I can name dozens of scenes throughout the series in which she shows just as much true and real emotions as she's done with Neal. And do you even know the definition of a one-dimensional character? It's a character who lacks depth and doesn't seem to ever grow. Hook has grown as a character ever since he came on the damn show. Emma has made him grow and evolve into a better man. I agree, this was a sad scene, and they did love each other a lot, but I have to say Hook is better for Emma. Now don't get me wrong, I liked Neal, and their backstory was very cute, and they have amazing chemistry with each other, but to me, Hook was always a better match for her. Sure Emma and Neal had something way back when, when she was young, but ever since Neal did what he did, she changed, and grew up. And that change made her into a completely different person. They just weren't the same anymore, and seemed better as friends and as parents who got along pretty well for their child. Especially since Neal was about to marry someone else. Let's be real here, if Tamara hadn't turned out to be evil and betrayed him, he still would have married her. He didn't even want to start something with Emma again until Tamara betrayed him. Every time Emma tried to tell Neal that she had a bad feeling about Tamara, he just blew it off and chalked it up to jealousy. He never once looked at her like he wanted to get back with her. To me, Hook was just better for Emma in many ways.

Emma and Neal loved each other and never really stopped because they never really fell in love with anybody else. Emma came close to falling in love with Graham, but he died right after they got together. Emma also came close to falling in love with August, but he turned into wood and then a boy before he and Emma could officially start to date. Neal didn't really love Tamara;he just went after her because he wanted a life without magic and I that will cause problems for the 2 of them later on.

lightchester wow, it has nothing to do with chemistry, that. emma said this because DESPITE their chemistry, Neal hurt her in the past. she was hoping him being alive was a trick, because she does not want to face losing him all over again. She tells him that the instant she saw him again in New York, she knew she never stopped loving him. But she was terrified. Because she lost him twice already (when she ended up in jail, and when he fell through the portal, the pain she thought she had buried, rushed back to her.) the very FACT that Neal still elicits that kind of emotion from Emma actually is only a testament to the STRENGTH of her feelings, and the reality of the fact that no relationship is perfect. Swanfire was true and REAL. It had angst, but it was REALISTIC and heartwrenching in its own right, not just for drama's sake, but which actually fit the characters and their history. Emma LOVED Neal, but she was hoping he was dead was because to her, it would be easier to know she has to move on, than face a future with him. NOT because she does not love him or for lack of chemistry as you so shallowly put it, but because of the fear that enveloped her heart at the thought of facing losing him again. BECAUSE she loves him so much, she does not want to face losing him again and suffering those emotions all over again. Not to mention after the confession, Neal EMBRACED her tightly. He understood why she felt that way, and he never once criticised her for it, but accepted that his past actions reaped the consequences. In this case, her fearing that opening herself up again to him, would leave her shattered all over. How that spelled "awful pairing" to you, I have no idea.

I don't understand why so many CaptainSwan fans think that this scene isn't for SwanFire. Well it's not for CaptainSwan either, sorry. Emma looked like she could care less when Hook confessed. She said that she loves Neil, always will. She's not her mother. It was never love at first sight and fairytales for Emma. Ever since she was young she was on her own. She has trust issues, so just because she was easier for her to think that Neil was dead than go through the pain of possibly having to lose him again doesn't mean that she doesn't love him. True love isn't always so simple for everyone, and especially not for people like Emma and Neil. These two deserve their happy ending more than anyone. Besides, Hook did a lot of bad things in his life that are hard for me to forget, despite the fact that he is good looking. What he did to Rumpel was not humane, and this was before Rumpel became evil. I know that he and Mila loved eachother, but that doesn't give him any right to act the way that he did and kill Rumpel's self esteem after breaking apart his family. Besides that, he was a pirate and murdered people for their money. He hasn't redeemed himself in my eyes yet, as what he is doing is just to help Emma and he only acts unselfishly when it's for the people he loves. Also another big thing. He loved the mother of Baelfire and now he loves Baelfire's first love? That's gross. Or maybe not and I'm just weird.

August was the one who ran off with the money (Neal even said something about it in The Evil Queen) and he's the one who sent Emma to prison, not Neal. The writers have already said that.

aulii napu well said. Emma loves Neal (like she said she always will) And even in Hook's secret, he said he still love Milah and never thought he could let her go until Emma. Emma basically said the same thing to Neal just in different words. She wanted to move on from him. It is funny too - Emma crossing that bridge and looking back seeing all the people of her future, and Neal behind her locked away (her past), very symbolic and beautiful writing.

+THGQueen I think it's something that the writers could have written well. They have enough chemistry and Henry for it to be able to be believable. But I don't think it could ever be true love. Simply because Emma has magic and you could see when Emma lit the candle using magic that Neal would find it really hard to except it (no saying that he never could) thanks to Rumple choosing magic over him but I don't think he could encourage it like hook did (as well as others). And I don't think Emma would have done magic as much as she did without the encouragement which would have been a shame as it's such a big part of her and is the reason she succeeds as much as she does in the future. But I know your not the only one who shipped swanfire and wanted it to work, (the number of vids and fanfictions proves that) it's a nod to the acting and relationships between the actors that means their are so many different ships that you can see working. I do think it was a real shame he died so early as you hardly saw any character development or plot with him (compared to other characters)

+THGQueen Everyone doesn't want it, but unfortunately, it's what most fans want. I shipped Emma with Neal, too, well at least after Graham was gone. I thought Emma-Graham would have made a lot more sense than Emma-Hook. But once Neal showed up, I thought that Emma as a character gained considerably more depth and their scenes were so well-acted and organic. The Captain Swan scenes feel so forced and phony, like the writers are trying their hardest to make them likable. They lack the chemistry of Snowing, Rumbelle, or even OutlawQueen. I will say that it's more from Morrison's side that I think the acting is unconvincing in regards to Captain Swan. I think O'Donoghue is convincing. I just think Morrison was more organic in her scenes with Raymond-James.

As someone who's between ships, I can understand why she feels this way. Emma has been running from her feelings for a long time, and it would've been easier for Neal to have been dead than for her to face her feelings for him. Plus, I do believe that she really was beginning to feel something for Hook and Neal being dead meant that she wouldn't have to make a potentially difficult decision between them.

Yes, I know chemistry is subjective, but I don't think Neal has chemistry with ANYONE. Except maybe Wendy. DarlingFire > SwanFire If Hook and Emma don't end up with each other, Hook won't be with anyone else. He is a pretty committed guy. If Emma rejects him for Neal (and since Hook will be the one to bring Emma's memory back, I seriously doubt that she won't take that into consideration. He will make her remember her parents, the people she has always wanted in her life), then Hook won't end up with Tinkerbell, I see them as more of a friendship. Back to Neal and Emma's (in my opinion) nonexistent chemistry, the only reason the writers would make SwanFire endgame is because he is Henry's father, which gives him an advantage. I think it's obvious that Neal wants the best for Emma. He just can't give it to her. I think she really needs someone like Hook who will support her. There is no baggage there (sorry, can't forget Neal let Emma go to prison for his crime while he got off scot-free and then forgot about her for eleven years and then got engaged and then didn't believe Emma when she thought Tamara was evil). Hook has done everything to redeem himself while Neal is still working up to it. Then there is the upcoming death? Honestly, if they were going to kill Hook, I think they would've sent Neal to Emma's door a year later. Anyone heard that they cast Blackbeard? He'll have something to do with Hook, and why would they bother going more into Hook's history if they're going to kill him? Really, it's between Neal and Belle. And it's likely they'll kill Belle because she is Rumple's path to goodness, and that's the way to go if they want him to go bad. But, Neal could be on the chopping block too. I mean, he's reconciled with his father, which is his main plot point, so...? Don't mean to offend anyone, just my opinion :)

But i swear, i can't feel it :( But by the fact that everyone love them, i have been like.. " psychoanalyzing myself" to understand why i don't. I realized that i used to love the "first love". Like in Inuyasha (an anime if u don't know it) i preferred Kikyo (the first one) and no Kagome, although i do liked her (just one example of several). It sound stupid just say it like that, but what i mean is that when they sell me a "couple" and i like it, i used to imagine the rest of their love story in my head, and i fell in love with them. And then, no matter how annoying things they write, like that Tamara's arc, i am like "uuh.. ok ok! let's pass this, let's go for their story!" and i can't blame the characters but the writers for the annoying and bad situations. I loved Emma's character and story, Bae's character and story, AND their "Tallahassee" episode, so i automatically fell in love with them! it was such an original and unique story Regarding Hook, i loved his character on season 2, he used to be so different from other characters, and now i feel he is in every minute more and more like a "charming" and that's not the character i loved so much.. Sorry i write a lot ( even deleted a lot) but was funny to explain :)

Yeah, he's not half the badass he was when we came in, haha :D But I put that under character development, I think it was important. He actually was the reason why I started watching OUAT. I saw by accident a fanmade video about him and Emma and I instantly fell in love with the characters (I was devsstated though when I found out he'll first appear in seasoun 2) so I shipped them from the very beginning. Although I couldn't stop myself from "aaaw"ing about her and Graham. ♥ I know how it feels like when you have a fictional character's future life all figured out and it all comes crushing down :D → then The Hunger Games taught me better than thinking you know what's gonna happen.. :D

Emily H. ooh thank you, u understand me :') i think if i had been in your place, i might liked them together. But as i know him with that badass attitude i didn't like that change of personality. I understand that about the character development, but i preferred it has developed in a different way. I mean, i don't imagine (for example) Jack Sparrow being married with a princess, having children and living happily ever after. I totally could see him having his own happy ending still with his pirate life, with some woman resembling to Mila. (besides everything i really liked that couple). I used to prefer a very good story rather than a happy ending, so although i COMPLETELY love Emma and Graham, his story was really great. Regina showing that she can really kill someone and show how far is she willing to go, specially if someone was about to discover everything. It gave to the show a more dark side, and i loved it! so, i could accepted it. Then, the reason i started to watch OUAT was Rumpelstiltskin. I ABSOLUTELY love him. He was the soul of the show. His story was the best one in my opinion, the deeper too, and that included Bae. So i loved the character. At least his story. (and i also liked the idea of Rumple being the father in law of Emma, to be honest) :P

Then here is Emma said Henry 1x09 neal was a young firefighter and emma a young waitress in a restaurant and bar. neal and regularly frequented the restaurant and later he asked her to go out with him and she agreed and they went to an amusement park or Neal said of his childhood (like 3x22) and a game booth, neal wins a dream catcher and emma wins a keychain and later they get a weekend in a motel and neal offers holiday has emma. (Or she chose Tallahassee) and 1 week later, Neal finds out that Emma is wanted for stealing watches in the city of Phoenix and advises him to go to the police and she agrees to go to the police for neal love and decides to recover the watches. and a month later emma is in jail and Neal recovers watches, August and met speaking to Emma and Neal decides to go see his chief fireman and asked him to say that he died of a gain emma family of a fire, and it gives a love letter for emma was in August if it discovers the truth about magic or if the curse is broken and when emma gets out of jail, she will see the fire chief and suspected neal is still alive and before August 1x22 turns the wood gives him the letter from Neal.

I don't think that Emma and Hook will end up together either. Hook is a pirate; a man who is always looking for an adventure. Emma likes adventures, but with a life of always moving around I think she wants a home. She wants to spend the rest of her life seeing her son and parents just about every day of it. I don't think that Hook would be happy living any life but the life of a pirate and never really fit in with Emma's family.

You know what? I never believed in CaptainSwan being endgame for that EXACT reason; Hook is a man of the sea, and could never be able to settle down with someone. But after the 2x22 and 3x05 flashback, and after everything that happened in Neverland, I realized I was wrong. Hook wants nothing more THAN to settle himself, and he wants nothing more than a family and a place to belong. We saw him becoming friend with Charming after he saw a bit of Liam in him, and we sam him caring about Henry (he was glad that he survived). He's a guy of devotion and he needs to love. But destiny intervened again when she found him in Manhatten. Coincendnce? No. Fate? Yes.

As much as I love Neal and Emma, I'm glad they didn't end up being together. It kind of defeats the purpose of Emma's character development in my opinion. Emma is always stuck in the past and unable to open up because of it. Neal was Emma's first love and a part of her will always love him, but he is also a painful reminder of her past and them being together only encourages the idea that Emma is unable to move on. Whereas her being with Hook allows for Emma move on and open up once again- not even just her but for Hook as well. They are both two people clinging on to the past who have been unable to see any hope in the future, and so them being together enables that :) That's just my opinion anyway!
