meh, he's dangerous to some guards that are so inept at grappling esp the on who got so scared he jumped to the mace when he could tried to grapple first with 3 of his mates ready vs 1 guy. inmate was dangerous mainly due to his fitness size and knowing how to grapple better. the mace just made it worse and guard kept macing when he was already wrestled to the ground with a single leg. this is why all law enforcement needs to know basic wrestling or mma to subdue opponents.

Calitroit45, Really? To answer your question, I'm from the generation that knows how to read and write. Can you please look up the word "sarcasm". Then use that same dictionary to look up the word "pill". Ok, I'll explain it as my conscience would haunt me if I let you toil with this insurmountable task. I was being sarcastic (mocking that is) about the spelling of the word "pilling". Why? Because there's no such word. The root word "pill" is a small round mass (sometimes oval-shaped) that is swallowed whole (typically medicine). I believe our friend was trying to say "piling", but that too is incorrect as that refers to stakes or posts that support a foundation (as in wooden piling). However, you CAN pile or stack things on top of one another. So I believe what our esteemed friend was trying to say when he wrote "pilling", rather than "piling", neither one of which is correct, was that "I laughed my ass off seeing the pile of officers entering the room". I leave it there as I can only come up with expletives to describe this level of cluelessness.

He would have to be pretty proficient. When I started Jiu Jitsu I had 8 years of striking. It took some of the blue belts well over 5 minutes to take me down. Some blue belts couldn't. Now I'm a bigger athletic guy, but it depends on the practioner. Ive had some white or blue belts give me a harder time then purple. I was pondering what if this was a street fight and I was hitting them. As many Jiu Jitsu players have zero striking experience. The most difficult fight I've had in my life was against someone fresh out of prison, and high on meth. I can play with people who have been striking for a year to two. This guy was just insane though. The drugs and his mentality made him very difficult to fight. He attacked me on a bus. I threw solid combinations. Every shot landed he got dropped but kept coming forward. Eventually we ended up in a scramble and I double legged drove him forward. Then finished him. I've worked nightclub security before and people seemed easy to toss around. Especially when u know grappling it's like playing with a kid. Keep in mind I'm 6'3 230 lbs with heavy hands and good cardio. I always believed that with training up against a untrained person it's no competition. That fight changed my perspective. There are certain people out there that mentality alone are extremely hard to subdue. Now add possible use of drugs even in prison and nothing to lose. That can be a cocktail for disaster. I think a average joe that took Jiu Jitsu recreationally for about a year could've lost that fight I was in. So not everyone who trains grappling is equal. I believe if they had some Jiu Jitsu , and are very athletic it's much more probable. If not then a well trained avid practioner wins hands down. Just some people seem to think six months of Jiu Jitsu turns you into John Wick. I'm sure you're more knowledgeable on grappling then me though. Given your channel name. Still I would never want to deal with what these officers have to go through.

I'm a CO, and this incident made its way through my workplace. I respectfully disagree that the officers did pretty well. Responding officers voluntarily gave up control over that assailant, despite one of their own was attacked. At my joint that individual would have been pinned to the ground until he was put in restraints. Instead, they let him get up, and he attacked the officer again, who in hindsight should have been separated from the attacker. If an inmate hit me once, it's part of the job. If my coworkers let him get back up to hit me again, then I'd have some choice words for them afterwards. Hopefully those officers learned from this incident. Anyone can armchair quarterback, and I've had regrets of my own in uses of force, but how do you justify not maintaining control over someone who just assaulted your brother in blue?
@harriamwinter46325 жыл бұрын
Brian Kessler I was gonna say pretty much the same thing. Not sure how it works in the States but here in the UK u don’t allow some1 back up & least of all allow them 2 control the situation. U restrain them, cuff them, then in the cell, un cuff & tactical extraction. Why were some of them stood around doing nothin & pointin 2 officers comin in where the action was @ rather than joinin in? Dont no much about jurisdiction in the States/who can do what but that looks unprofessional & as a uniformed person u surely wud help?

I've known many former COs and I've even had family and friends who were in prison doing several year sentences ...and I can tell you that what I learned from them is "Please, Thank you", common courtesy and treating people with dignity and respect goes a long way. You never know who you're dealing with and appearances can be deceiving. Sure, there is a small fraction of individuals who will attempt to harm you, through no fault of your own. There are also inmates who just love to get under your skin. But (as I was told by some former COs) a majority of the time, most COs who find themselves being attacked were either careless, jerks or "power tripping" until one (or several) of the inmates decided they weren't dealing with it anymore. So those COs get a helping of "humble pie" at best. You have to understand as a C.O. that you are outnumbered by the inmates, you are dealing with people who are under a lot of stress, sexually frustrated, possible mental/emotional/personality disorders and some who may feel like they have nothing to lose. Whether they deserve to be there or not is irrelevant. You need to be aware of this. There are some inmates who are the worst humanity has to offer ... but it makes no difference, given the circumstances. If they aren't causing trouble or an immediate threat - don't give them a reason to do either. Understanding that, keeping your cool, treating people with basic dignity and not overly exercising your authority will go a long way for many of those inmates - and may mean the difference between lumps, bruises, a trip to the E.R. or the morgue ...and going home for the night. It isn't about who's right, who's wrong what people do or do not deserve. It's about maintaining the peace and steady operation of the facility and the safety of yourself and your coworkers. Leave your pride, ego, temper and problems at the door. You're in a place where you're outnumbered by people with an abundance of these.
