Prior to the actor that played Parker being replaced, child actors were replaced quite frequently. In one series they replaced a dark haired child with one that was blond. It isn’t that no one noticed but that it happened frequently enough that nobody cared.

I really liked the series However, I hated the fact they killed Sweets. They could have found another way for him to exit the show giving him an opportunity to return as a guest later. I also didn’t like that they made Angela’s husband a paraplegic and he never regained his ability to walk. That sucked. I stopped watching after they killed off Lance.

I actually heard people say they loved hodgins storyline because it was done so realistically. Most people that become paralyzed never walk again, his anger and the fractures in his relationships.. it wasn’t the happy ending you wanted but it was far more real than television normally gives us

It's been a long time, but I would've just assumed they needed someone that looked older since the child wouldn't have aged at the same pace as the show.

Although I never watched the show during its original run on CBS I have been watching reruns of Bones for several years. I can honestly say I have no memory of seeing the older Parker during that time. I'm not sure how I feel about aging the character up to college-age and sending him off to Oxford. In the later seasons he was frequently absent and became irrelevant over time. The producers could have simply left the character out and most people wouldn't have missed him in the slightest as their daughter was usually getting the most screen-time anyway.
