It's nice to hear him, a pro, say "butterflies". 6'-8' waves are quite manageable. But.... Once it hits 10'.... It's a completely different game. A 10' wave is moving twice as much water as an 8' wave. I used to get freaked out on surf 10' and up. But.... I always thought it was just me. I thought that everyone else in the water was perfectly comfortable in 10'-12' Sunset lobbing 2' thick lips. Rocky Point at any size is fun. Sunset or Lanikai at 10' was always SCARY.... for me. Aug '87 - Jul '91 living on Oahu was the best four years of my life..... Nice clip Koa. Thanks for making me feel better about my butterflies.

Great surfing and vibe always... But not sure about that board design. Very short, but also very thick which to me means less responsive and less speed-drive. I like Koa on the boards he rode at Skeleton Bay which definitely worked in the barrel, yes? I'd also like to see him explore Clay Marzo's, or Taj's board dims... Not saying this critically, just an outside response to what I see, and we all see uniquely.

You planned not to grab. What happened there? I can't imagine you or anyone - even the world's biggest wave snob would complain about a day at Lance's. Are there Shallow Hal surfers out there? I was stuck on the inside and all the water drained off the reef. The dude next to me was perched on the reef, wrecking his board. I was between two fingers of reef that went dry, but still floating on water. Totally sketched out, I paddled to the boat in the channel and had a Bintang. No màs!

Dear God one day hopefully very soon I am packing it all up buying a boat parking at sumbitch somewhere down there Indonesia Fiji Bali the mentawai islands South America wherever. I always say this to everyone. I honestly truly believe you guys have the best job on the planet. Now I'd put golfers maybe second on that list and then my job which was special forces third. The reason why surfing and golfing is one and two is because y'all get to go to the most beautiful places on the planet. You get to interact with the local flavor and the ocean and again you go to the most unbelievably beautiful places on this planet. Golfers get to do kind of the same in that they always go to really nice country clubs and s***. With special forces being third that's because we get to do the coolest s*** on the planet fly around on cool helicopters and jump out of planes and shoot the coolest new weapons and then you get to work with the greatest dudes on the planet. but the huge downside to that is they send you🎉 to the shittiest places on Earth and the local flavor there all want to kill you.
