Hey Gab, does watching the ads to the end increase your revenue? Your the only youtuberer I am willing to watch ads for. You also have the appropriate amount and as far as I can tell, you ARE the ORGINAL travel vlogger!! As for the Jet lag - I have traveled extensively for business and can't afford the down time. I try to set myself up on the time of the destination when I get on the plane. So when I leave NA for EU, I use an eye cover and noise canceling headphones and as soon as the plane takes off, I put my seat back just a little (to respect the people behind me) and put my sleep gear on. I skip the meals on the plane. Hope you are doing well!

Great videos. I particularly appreciate your unpretentious and down-to-earth style. Would really like to know more about the Corsican people, their language and cultural identity as distinct from the French. Apparently there has been a separatist movement on the island for several decades.
@martinc.7202 жыл бұрын
In the early 2000, a friend of mine had been out of the French armed forces just for a little while, and he was saying that soldiers stationed on the island were, at the time, the only French military personnel carrying guns loaded with actual bullets at all time (on French territory) , as there were concerns that separatists may turn to violence (think IRA or ETA). I could never verify that information, but I took his word for it. Not sure if those concerns still exist.

For jet lag you could try melatonin. It's basically a food supplement you can take an hour or two before bedtime. If you stay away from blue light (laptop, phone), then it should induce the production of sleep hormone. I've taken them sometimes to help get back into routine of things after working night shifts.

During my vacation in Corsica I took a bus from Bastia to Saint Florent for a day trip. When I got off the bus I realized that I had taken the last (and only) bus of the day, so I was stranded there. I gave myself a good 3 hours of stress free exploration until i had to find a way back home. I ended up hitchhiking for the first time in my life; the guy who picked me up ended up driving me to the peak of one of the mountains near Bastia, and I had an insane view of the island from up top. I could see where he had picked me up outside Saint Florent, and I could see the hostel in Bastia where I was staying. One of the most unforgettable experiences of my life!

Jetlag: during the day, I try to be outside as much as I can. If you're in a sunny environment, like Corsica, that helps. And try to do active things: hiking, cycling, swimming, all kinds of physical activity. Kind of what you do. It will help your body remain active and you won't be constantly reminded about how tired you are. When you reach an hour you're satisfied with to go to bed, go all-in on quality sleep. A sleeping mask, ear plugs or even an over the counter melatonin supplement all help upping that sleep quality. Takes me one night of top quality sleep and I'm over it, even the Asian jetlags. Good luck!

I have heard that jet lag,takes one day per time zone change. So if you fly from Mexico to Belgium and the time is 8 hrs different, it will take the body 8 days to adjust. If you are younger it will be less. And the 9000 ft mts in Corsica, from sea level, each 1000 FT you ascend, the temperature drops approx 3 degrees. So on Corsica, let's say at sea level it is 60 degrees, at approx 9000 ft the temp would be approx 33 degrees ×- 🌞❄☃️🌧 Excellent video. Love those blue skies. 😃

Flyiing from the west to the east is tough ...I've had the same problem as you've experienced...took me about 10 to 14 days to get my clock set. But I agree, you gotta power through the day with an extra coffee till local bedtime. Flying from the east to the west is usually easy as pie as you're just tired but you're in the local bedtime period anyways. Cheers from Toronto Canada.

Gabe watch the sun rise and set for a few days, if you can after moving timezone, it resets your body-clock faster. Also avoid blue light (screens especially) for a few hours before bed. We didn't see blue light after sunset for all of history until recently, it messes up your circadian rhythms.

Wow, very nice pictures from Corsica in this trip from Calvi to Bastia. I am looking forward for your next videos, I believe they will be really amazing. If you are returning your rental car in Ajaccio, it is also maybe a possibility to make a boat trip to Calanques de Piana and Scandola Nature Reserve where there are amazing red granite cliffs on and near the coast. If you are not sure about any pronunciations, try Forvo website and you will hear local pronunciations of all important towns and cities. ;) I don't know many things about Sardinia, but if you are considering your path back to the Italian boot (to catch a ferry from Bastia to La Spezia or Livorno or. port like this), I can very well recommend visiting Italian Ligurian Coast with Cinque Terre and Portovenere - in my opinion, this part of Mediterrranean is even more picturesque and amazing than Cote d'Azur and along the Cinque Terre five villages, there are very interesting hiking paths (you are along the sea but it feels like in the mountains because costal area rises very fast in elevation, is steepy in many parts). Near to Cinque Terre, it is a town named Carrara where amazing marble is obtained and was used for many art sculptures throught renaissance and beyond. After Cinque Terre, it is a possibility to take a path to your new country San Marino (which is, in my opinion, one of the best Italian hilltowns overall), then southeast to Bari (near to this town, there are Matera and Alberobello, iconic sights), after that maybe amazing Amalfi Coast near Naples (especially village of Positano is well known) and after that amazing Sicily with incredible volcano - Mt. Etna. This volcano is like 3,357 m high and there are tours and hiking paths to the top. Sicily is also home to some amazing historic Greek building in Taormina, Syracuse, Segesta etc. From Sicily, there are surely easy connections to Malta and Tunisia as I know that you are also considering Tunisia. Have a nice trip.

Nicotinamide mononucleotide (NMN) supplements have worked wonders on me for jet lag. Their main purpose is to raise your nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD+) levels to combat aging, however it also helps 'reset' your body clocks when traveling. There are separate clocks within the body. And if they’re out of sync - maybe your liver is looking for a meal, but your brain says it’s the middle of the night and you don’t know what to do. That’s why you feel like crap. Taking these supplements when arriving/returning to different time zones has truly been a game changer.

Gabe, Kind of awesome: You mentioned in this video that it was 11 days since your Cancun to Brussels flight. I just counted the videos since then and this one is #12. Is this volume typical? That's a lot of work for sure; filming and editing must take up a significant portion of each and every day.
@GabrielTravelerVideos2 жыл бұрын
Yeah kind of typical, just depends. I tend to film one a day but sometimes skip days. In Paris on my last day I filmed three videos, not planned, just worked out that way. So it's all random but adds up to 3-7 videos per week generally.
@stuartw37822 жыл бұрын
Yes, to minimize jetlag, do not go to sleep at your destination until the locals would. If you get out and keep moving its not that hard.

Gabriel, There’s a homeopathic remedy that I’ve found to be very effective in neutralizing jet lag. I’ve taken it on 12-16 hour flights that landed in places with huge time zone differences from the point of departure. And after the first night’s sleep, I don’t experience jet lag. It’s called “No Jet Lag” - originally a New Zealand product, which in the NZ way is named exactly what it is. You’ll find it available online, in travel and health food stores. Hope that helps, Sylvia

@GabrielTravelerVideos2 жыл бұрын
Honestly, it's so frustrating. I tried to pay for parking in Mexico recently and absolutely could not figure it out. You could only pay with a card, my card didn't work for some reason. I gave up and found a free spot nearby. Here in Corsica it said you needed to use your phone, I didn't even try. Just parked for the night and luckily in the morning I didn't have a ticket. Gone are the days of putting coins into the meter. It's all super high tech and confusing. I just wing it and hope for the best.
