@grassabrutta hmmm: Stehende Jahre(sringe) for quatersawn. But for grain run out we have no exact german correspondance, i never heared the tonewood sawyer nor the shingle maker using an expression for that. Beginning amateur luthier in Texas here. I wish I had a tone wood supplier like this near me! All the wood suppliers here are geared towards hobby builders that make furniture and such. Plenty of hardwoods and exotics, but no spruce or suitable pieces of maple. 🙁 So my only real option is ordering online and hoping that the spruce and maple billets are a good tonal match.

I make electric guitars both solid bodied and semi-acoustic so I understand your enthusiasm for the wood. Have you ever considered experimenting with other wood? This sounds like a criticism but it's not meant to but could you wear a microphone and lose the background music please? I did find it difficult to hear what you had to say
