Now, now. Let's not get carried away. They are two completely different plays but written by the same writers. Besides, if it was not for Miss Saigon, Lea would probably have not gotten the chance to play Eponine and/or Fantine. I don't know why Ruffelle did not reprise her role as Eponine on this 10th anniversary show especially when she won a Tony but I'm glad she didn't because Lea got to play her. IMHO, Lea is the best Eponine. I know Schonberg agrees with me because he has said so many times. For the record, I like both plays but prefer Miss Saigon. Peace.

I didn't think Hugh Jackman was half bad. The Soliloquy was amazing. Sure the voices in the film are generally not the greatest to have ever performed Les Mis, but on the other hand the theatric display of the musical doesn't come close to the visual performance of the movie. I just wouldn't compare the musical itself and the film. They're very different and both have their benefits. Plus we can be happy a reasonably good movie made it into mainstream. Many great musicals don't get a movie, sometimes not even a recording of the musical. :'(

So me and my boyfriend watched the 2012 film version as kind of a joke, but I decided I wanted to listen to the actual soundtrack separate from the film, and I came across this, another broadway version and the Original 1985 London Cast recording. The film does not do this music justice, and I’m now obsessed with Les Mis. 😂😂😂

What I always liked about this number is the convergence of voices in the ending. It starts with chaos, each person singing their own song, it then refines into the two voices of Valjean and Javert with both singing "Tomorrow is the judgment day" and then refines yet again with all singing the final part together with a single voice. Many voices, to two, to one.

I see your point but you have to take into consideration that 1. these guys are west end actors so they are proffesional in acting, singing and dancing but in the film they're only potentially professional actors (with the acceotion of aaron tveit and samantha barks who are westend/broadway performers) so they wouldn't expectedly have better voices in this one and 2. they have their orchestra playing their music live here but in the film they sung the songs straight in front of the camera (didnt record it) and they had to learn the timings of the song and the key off by heart because they sung it without the backing track or instruments and added it in the background when they were editing the film

I saw les Miserables inMontreal, in french in 1991, changed my life and my love of music forever I was celebrating my 40 birthday and my friends gave me the original french version cd, the original broadway cd and the original london cd, i listened to it so much that I know all the songs by heart I finally went to see the show 3 times, will never forget it, even today nearly 20 years later, the songs still put joy in my heart and tears in my eyes
