Fun fact - Fans will sometimes bring signs to the current Harry shows that say "show us the shoulder shake Harry" and he'll do a couple of beats of that jerky shoulder movement with a cheeky grin on his face. Gotta love a guy who can laugh at himself (and the fans love the nod to the past)

Regarding the group being put together, the X factor have since released new footage from that episode and it was actually Nicole Scherzinger from the pussycat dolls, who was a guest judge at the time.

I'm so glad that you're doing this series because I tried to watch it a while ago and could not get through the first one. Honestly, too much of the show is so cringe. Now, I can enjoy it through your reactions and not miss any of the iconic 1D moments that apparently happened during that time. Zayn is very humble and quiet and I have never seen any videos of him even mentioning his looks which is crazy because he is probably in the top 1% of most gorgeous men on earth. There is an interview that the boys did where the host read off a bunch of thirsty tweets from the night prior of the boys at an award show and all anyone was talking about was how hot Zayn looked and he said NOTHING.They were all put into boxes back then and a good example of this is how they painted Harry out to be a womanizer.

I think Nathan's trying to treat this show as it claimed to be at the time - a vocal competition, and that's why his gauge is off for it)) in terms of vocal competition they debuted very poorly (it gets WAY better very fast though). Meanwhile in reality this has always been an entertainment show to collect money for Simon's thousands of plastic surgeries)) People in UK love this kind of entertainment and they'll even vote for a fun act to stay. That Wagner guy almost made it to semi-finals and he sounded DREADFUL 🥴 What I admire in 1D though, they brushed off that novelty act fate, all the fun and jokes aside, they wanted to become musicians and they became some of the best musicians in the UK and Global scene. British folk generally doesn't take xFactor or BGT alumni seriously, they're funny novelty characters to them and this is what 1D was treated like before they made it in the USA. They're a very rare exception.

FYI from this group, Aiden Grimshaw is Nick Grimshaw’s( radio host Radio 1 U.K. - interviewed Harry multiplex and did the heart rate bit with pics and H) younger brother, Rebekah Ferguson just released her 5th album last year. She received a contract from this season and somehow got screwed from x factor in promotion. Katie Weissal became a lawyer to better understand law surrounding music contracts and production. Rebekah and Katie are the leads in fighting to change laws in U.K. about contracts btwn artists and labels/managers work. Katie and a few others from other seasons have a lawsuit going against Simon, X factor, and others connected to the show, sighting mental, verbal and sexual abuse and manipulation.
