‘One disaster after another’: Albanese goverment lashed over Palestinian visa approach

Sky News host James Macpherson has hit out at the Albanese government following recent reports that Labor had issued thousands of visas for Palestinians to come to Australia before ASIO security checks had even been carried out.
Documents tabled in the Senate last week showed 2601 Palestinians, some of whom had already arrived in Australia, were referred to ASIO not before but after being issued with visas.
“The thing that strikes me is the absolute disdain that the government seems to have for its primary responsibility, which is its commitment to the security of Australian citizens,” Mr Macpherson said.
“By all means, help people around the world as much as we can but your first job as the Australian government is to absolutely ensure that citizens are kept safe.
“It's been one disaster after another on every front, especially when it comes to home affairs and immigration. It is a disaster.”
According to ministerial briefing documents, 27 visa-holders had their visas cancelled prior to getting here. However, seven Palestinians had already arrived in Australia by the time ASIO had ruled they shouldn't be allowed into the country.
ASIO has since assessed all onshore and offshore visa holders.

My sister who studied at elite University in Australia, has been a productive and contributing member to the society, honest to the core, big tax payer but she can't get her work visa extended and when she applied for an onshore tourist visa for 6 months explaining the need to wind up stuff from Australia (Tax, Super, bank, airlines tickets, exploring Australia and spending Christmas with me etc) , she is given a month visa to do do everything. She called and spoke to 3 different people in Immigration and oh boy what incompetent idiots are doing jobs at Immigration!!! They all simply regurgitated a ready made answer without giving any solution to our problem. I am heart broken and lost all trust in this Govt. and the Immigration Dept. Seems like Govt. is more keen on getting people from war torn countries without checks but are not willing to welcome people who are skilled, educated, honest, who can be true assets to the Australia and Australian economy.. Sigh... I wish i had the powers to deal with these corrupt politicians and people in power..

To me it seems, when I hear what is discussed in the video, that when Labor is in power it does whatever it wants without any regards to checks and control when the party thinks it can get away with it. Victorian Labor has set the precedent for this but just doing whatever it wants and if there are any questions, the issue gets referred to an enquiry. Once a belated enquiry occurs, then we have seen the endless "I can't recall" answers. The enquiry is closed, because it is not in line with the narrative and the behaviour that was meant to be investigated just continues as business as usual. This is the price that the voters are now paying because we have seen a weak and divided LNP that can't get its house in order.
