Anybody else notice that the keyboard player did the piano solo with only his right hand? Incredible.

Lighthouse's saxophonist, Howard Shore, became the music director for Saturday Night Live and later began a career in film composition, becoming one of Hollywood's most sought after composers. Shore won three Academy Awards for The Lord of the Rings film trilogy.

For people not around and of a certain age (young!) in the late fifties through maybe the very early seventies, popular music was part of a renaissance in all things cultural. Music you can hear on You Tube is a hint of what was. Words like magical, fantastic, etc. are very pale compared to those years, especially musically, if you were there especially the first time. We met Leonid and Friends last year after their concert and they are just as nice and warm as they appear to be, very humble people. The show was a big hit. When our group discussed WHY they sound as good or better than Chicago and other bands they cover is Leonid adds strings and horns to some of these songs that weren't there when the original artists recorded them. It gives a fuller and richer and more powerful sound. They are out of this world great.

These guys do excellent covers of Chicago. The early Seventies had a number of horn-rock hits, this being one of them. Lighthouse were from Toronto; the drummer and lead vocalist was Skip Prokop, who sounded like David Clayton Thomas and the Ides of March's Jim Peterik.
@northlander4370 Жыл бұрын
Skip Procop took over the lead vocals when Bob Mcbride left the band , sadly Bob died from heart disease in Toronto in 1998 at fifty-one years of age , he was considered the voice of Lighthouse , and now Skip is gone , both were the heart and soul of this terrific band !

Thank the good Lord I was a teen and capable of comprehending great music, still can too, and this music is a 100% example of great music. Poor kids of today who are missing this opportunity can at least research what great music is, what it sounds like, and who made it. Leonid and friends do a terrific job re-creating that great music from years gone by! Awesome, just awesome!

They started out doing a Chicago song - which got a lot of views - now they have done quite a few Chicago as well as Lighthouse, EWF, Ides of March. They tour the US and will be here in the fall

You need to listen to the original, before the cover. You'd know the song couldn't be covered by a three piece with a sax. You would also appreciate how Leonid and his friends recreate each piece they do, note for note. They are so much more than a cover band.

Its a very good remake of the band Lighthouse song, of course being around at the time of the oreginal I would prefer the oreginals, but these guys are right there as well. Check out Lighthouse; "Sunny Days" and "Pretty Lady". All their band members were down to earth approachable musicians, it is what that set them appart from others
