Milli Vanilla was not a one hit number. A number one album, a remix album and 5 hit singles 3 of which made number one. Falco had a second hit called Vienna Calling. And did originally write and record Der Kommisar but the hit version was by a group called After The Fire. Cutting Crew had 3 charted songs. The Knack also had 3 charted songs.

It's news to us here in Australia to have Chrissie Amphlett and the Divinyls listed in the USA as one hit wonders. Chrissie and the Divinyls were a very important part of the music industry in Australia for close on 40 years, up there with other Aussie Groups as Midnight Oil, AC/DC and INXS. Chrissie was a diverse talent, I remember seeing her on stage in Sydney in 1998 playing the part of Judy Garland in the original Aussie stage production of "The Boy from Oz" with Tod Mckendry, a good decade before Hugh Jackson did it on Broadway. Her role only took about 20 minutes of the whole show but she left the audience stunned with her performance and her voice was out of this world. In the early 80s she was every Aussie School boys sexual fanatasy. Her death was shock to all of Australia and she sorely missed. But she and the Divinlys were never a one hit wonder in the Land of Oz.

Calling Falco a "One Hit Wonder" is close to blasphemy. He was *extremely* successful in the german speaking countries for many years. Since his lyrics were german, it was extremely unusual for him to have a hit in the US. Calling him a one hit wonder because it was only 1 is very silly.

That song is now the song for Breast Cancer as a reminder to women to "touch themselves" as any woman knows she should to detect lumps in her breasts. Chrissy died of breast cancer. I really REALLY am pissed to hear anyone say they were one hit wonders.
@Hammster69official7 жыл бұрын
A good number of these are not one hit wonders in the US. They had other Billboard top forty hits, most notably: Milli Vanilli - "Baby Don't Forget My Number" (#1), "Blame It On The Rain" (#1), "Girl I'm Gonna Miss You" (#1), "All Or Nothing" (#4). How do you decide that a band that hit NUMBER ONE three times was a "one hit wonder"? By the way, the song you did pick peaked at #2. Also: Dead Or Alive - "Brand New Lover" (#15) Falco - "Vienna Calling" (#18) Cutting Crew - "I've Been In Love Before" (#9) ***(As far as I'm concerned, a second TOP TEN hit is automatic exemption from "one hit wonder" status.) The Knack - "Good Girls Don't" (#11), "Baby Talks Dirty" (#38)

DallasHammster You'd be miles better at this stuff than the idiots who have sucked up over a million subs putting together this crap. Here in the UK, Milli Vanilli were massive and scored pretty much the same chart positions with the same songs. As for Dead Or Alive, they had 7 top 40 songs over here: 1984 - That's The Way (I Like It) - 22 1984 - You Spin Me Round (Like A Record) - 1 1985 - Lover Come Back To Me - 11 1985 - In Too Deep - 14 1985 - My Heart Goes Bang (Get Me To A Doctor) - 23 1986 - Brand New Lover - 31 1987 - Something In My House - 12 Also, in 2003 they released a remixed version of "You Spin Me Round" which hit number 23, and the original version of the same song was reissued in 2006, following Pete's appearance in Big Brother, which reached number 5. Oh, and over here, pretty much everybody knew Pete Burns was dead.

@@warriorpoet5461 Yes, it was sad and yes we used to have some great bands but unfortunately (much to my dissatifaction) we have not invested in any rock bands and good live music is hard to come by. In the 80s/90s, it was everywhere. You could see heaps of bands in the charts both rock and pop. If you want to make it in the music industry, you have to go to the US or Europe. Now, theres a nanny state culture and venues invest in nothing but poker machines and make millions from that. They only care about profit. And theres all this BS concern about violence so venues rarely do live music anymore, especially in Sydney (NSW). They even introduced lockout laws meaning you cant enter a venue after 1am.
