About 11 years ago my uncle's combine was a complete loss due to a fire while he was shelling corn the main thing is that no one got hurt or lost life a combine can be replaced a person can't

Hi from Western Australia.. Sorry to hear about the fire.. Fighting a fuel fire with just water at the beginning and no foam suppression till later on just doesn't cut it ... Here we have a company that will modify and install steel fuel tanks for the harvesters... Ours have all been modified with steel tanks. Here in Australia, you hardly hear about a harvester burning down... Here we have a fire suppression systems installed in everyone of our harvesters. Having this system in place reduces our farm equipment insurance...

Also drag a chain on the ground for the buildup static electricity.
@ElsaLay2 ай бұрын
@@daniedippenaar2224 that's a good suggestion to minimize static charge buildup, here our problem is the ground surface is usually too dry when the harvesters hit the field.. My grand father came up with the idea to mounted small single ripper tines to the header fronts to penetrate the soil and we have continued to use this idea as this helps to eliminate the static build up....

You’ve got to be kidding me , we didn’t need that this year but your safe , and combines burn regularly with that much dust . It’s been a crazy year so far , prices are down and you’re working your tail off getting the crop out plus the kids and wife . Hay it’s a combine and it’s probably better you got a newer one or batter one because I haven’t seen it yet . Regardless you play on my TV all day long and out of all the farmers I pull for you the most . Anyone who can think to take the tractor and shove the header off of a flaming combine well your the shit , save that head !! I wished I lived close to you and I’d help you finish harvesting for the year . Just keep your head up ! We love you buddy !

That’s such a supportive message. It’s always tough to hear about the challenges farmers face, especially during harvest time when so much is at stake. Wishing someone a safe remaining harvest season shows how much you care about their well-being and success. It’s a reminder of how connected farming communities are and the shared concern for each other’s safety during those critical times.

Sorry that happened to you man. And I agree with other peoples comments about plastic fuel tanks. With as much fuel as they hold they should not be on these big machines. At least combines for sure. But you got out yourself with no injuries, and it sounds like things got taken care of and came together pretty quickly for you to get settled with your insurace and get another combine in the field. That's awesome.... With that said, having been a service tech and service manager for a dealer for 23 years, it really pisses me off when people just ignore warning lights and buzzers and screens on their monitors! They are there for a reason people! That is to protect your machine, and yourself, and your investment folks!! If you get a warning alert, stop and check it out! You may save yourself a lot of money! Saw another one a few weeks ago where a guy ignored his low engine oil pressure warning when it came on. "Damn idiot lights. They never work right" was what he said as he kept on going down the field with his combine. Well, he stopped shortly after that when the engine started losing power because it was seizing up.Turns out the idiot light was working. $47,000 later he had a new engine in his combine. When they checked the oil on the old engine, it was not even on the dipstick. They drained it and got six gallons out of it. That engine holds 15 gallons. Granted, some could have blown out the exhaust in the final few minutes before he finally shut it down. So there was some really poor maintenance there too, but it still could have been avoided if he had stopped when his "idiot light" and alarm came on. Who was the idiot?

Your luck with fires is about like mine around sharp objects. We had a bearing go out on a Deere years ago and it was a total loss, no play before or after the fire but found out it was spinning on the shaft under load instead of working how a bearing is supposed to. Glad your ok

Welll......all combines will catch fire if you don't clean then off regularly. Typically a caseih combine trash will and does get caught up under the muffler and will spread from there. We have had 2 in our area do that in the last 4 years and they were a nightmare to fix. This year it's been rough for dry dusty beans. We have been blowing off the combines every morning and afternoon and have been lucky thus far. Buddy still have 400ac of beans left and 50ac of milo so we will see if it makes it through

Dad and Grandpa had it once with a gleaner M3 where the chopper bearing went out. They soaked the hot spots in water and cleaned most of the chaff out that they could. They then went to get a new bearing and returned to the field to see that the fire department was putting out a fire on what was left of the combine.😂 they then went and bought a 1660 and we've ran red combines since.
