I'm not an expert, but Sochan's been making his threes this year. Granted, he hasn't taken many, but a guy who can't shoot a lick would be shooting bad regardless of volume. There's something there with his jumper, and the proper use for him is in a Draymond role, as a secondary playmaker out of the short roll, catch and shoots, handoffs, and of course going all in defensively

Awful Spurs take. Rusty clearly hasn’t watched Sochan this past week. His clamps are getting better and better along with his decision making. His development is actually important because Wemby needs a supporting cast he can trust for the future. Saying he’s not going to last long in the league just because he played out of position the majority of the season so far is insanely baffling.

He just get's alot of flack because he wasn't a great PG and because all eye's are on Wemby and he wasn't great at getting the ball to him, everyone hates him for it, pretty unfairly I might add. Dude is 20, has great size, great defender, and his offense/passing are all trending upward as his free throw and 3-point percentage have gone up significantly since his rookie year. Rusty only has this take because he doesn't watch the spurs and has nothing else to say about them, which is warranted cuz the spurs suck but still, to pull the plug on a 20 year old who has been improving significantly on offense and is good on defense is a lil crazy.

It's a hot take for a reason 😅. As a spurs fan I can understand where he's coming from even though it's still way too soon to say he can't be an NBA player at all. I just don't think his archetype will suit us for when we are trying to contend for a championship. I really haven't seen significant improvements from his rookie year, the most you could point to is his 3pt%, but looking past the boxscore, his shooting still doesn't look good at all to me,his overral efficiency has not improved, and opposing defenses do not respect his shot whatsoever. I'd rather we move on from him and him blossom elsewhere than keep him on a pedestal when I don't think he could ever help us really win. in general I think we put too much stake in the idea that every young player will just magically improve

@@KamuiProductsInc It's the middle of his second year. And no, it's not a hot take. Sochan has been doing fine since Tre Jones became the Spurs' main PG. Solid defense, improving shooting and good hustle have been shown by Sochan after returning to his natural position... but some who don't follow the Spurs closely still stick with the "Point Sochan is bad!", "everyone just have to pass the ball to Wemby all the time!" and "people aren't passing to Wemby because they're jealous of him!" narratives.

Dude I'm honestly getting to the point that I think Peyton Watson may have more upside than anybody has given him credit for. He's already pretty close to being an elite defensive wing and his offense the past couple of months has been improving rapidly. Over his last 15 games, he has played 20 mpg and is averaging 10.6/3.7/1.1 on 51/42/74 shooting splits. And he is doing this at 21 years old in what is basically his first real season. I knew Peyton had a chance to be a really good contributor for this team, but I'm starting to think he has a chance to be significantly more than a good role player.

Based on your Mavs take you clearly havent watched or followed the Mavs at all. I don't really blame you for that, but if you don't know what you're talking about then you probably shouldn't speak as if you do. The Mavs aren't pretending anything. The Mavs front office, coaching staff, roster, and fanbase all realizes they aren't a contender. This is a "see what we've got" year and it's just going extremely well. Also, you're just recycling the "Mavs can't play defense" narrative from last season which is not at all how this season has looked. Over the last 20+ games the Mavs are top 15 in overall defense rating and had a stretch where they were top 10. And that's with injuries to key players. So in essense everything you said about them is either inaccurate or misleading.

He is a really solid secondary playmaker who can operate well in the block against smaller defenders. He has a solid post fade game that he has been able to go to for consistent offense, and he can dish to open shooters and cutters in the low block. And he's also a really good defensive player. Absolutely. The fact that 2-3 of the teams that some people had as contenders going into the season (ie. Warriors, Lakers, Suns) might not even make the play-in in the West while teams like the Bulls and Nets (who are decent but let's be real, warriors, Lakers, Suns are all better) can comfortably make the play-in purely because of how bad the bottom of the East is. There's just no margin of error for Western conference teams. Being anywhere near .500 in the East is plenty to secure a play in spot, which is why the heat can just not take the regular season as seriously and still make a deep playoff run.

Response to your Altlanta hawks take (this assumes that you meant pg not any guard) there have been about 75 years of nba basketball. Assuming an equal split, 15 of those champions would be led by any point guard. I would guess that slightly less than half of point guards would be undersized. 6 championships led by undersized point guards is about what I would expect the average to be, that doesn't feel like an outlier, especially with early nba centering around the big man. If you were just saying guards in general, then I agree, but somehow I thought you were saying specifically point guards

Fox 3P improving is Crazy, I spend the last two month talking about It. He's always been a great scorer in the paint and right now, with that shooting, he will be one of the best PG in the league.

Rusty mentioning Pacers defense but since we put Aaron Nesmith in the Starting Lineup, the last 10 games where we are 9-1, we are 12th in defensive rating and 2nd in offensive (with Haliburton missing 2 and a half games) As for Jarace, I think pacers take GLeague more seriously for development than other teams. Ben and Nembhard got in cause we had no plan to be good and we were good

The mavs when luka, kyrie, and lively play are one of the best teams in the league statistically. They might not win this year, but their future is very bright with a lot of trade pieces for next offseason

I was on the side of trading Evan Mobley due to him stagnating in development but I honestly see the correlation in him moving to PF kind of ruining his development, does much better at Center.

On the topic of curry leaving, I don’t think that is a possibility because if curry does care enough about returning to contention he would be willing to let go of Klay and or dray. For him to leave they would have to be gone too and obviously that only happens if the warriors completely blow it up, and I don’t see that happening

Realistically, what would it take for the Spurs to get Trae Young from the Hawks that doesn’t include Wemby? Devil Vassell, this year’s possibly top 3 pick, and like three other first round picks?

Completely disagree on the Pacers take. Honestly don't know how much pacers ball you've watched if you think Jarace is the answer defensively right now. he's good but his footwork is slower than it needs to be at an NBA level. I think he'll get there, but at this moment he is NOT there. The Myles take is just objectively wrong, no real way around it. Turner isn't a great defender, never has been. His blocks are not a reflection of his defense. He's average-good, but his utilization isn't the problem. Lakers IST final emphasized this.

Shooting Guards have to be better defenders because whats the point of having a guard who can’t playmake, that’s just a worst modern Point Guard.

When I look at lavine and to a lesser extent can Thomas I feel like a narrative actually does need to be pushed in basketball spaces to stop getting overly excited over offense. Like I feel in recent years for some reason we’ve let the crowd of “basketball is about who has the most points so whoever scores more wins” have a nugget voice than they should. The game of baseball barebones is to have more points than the other team but scoring isn’t the most important part simply because it’s only one half of the game. The other half is defense which stops guys from scoring as much as they want. I say this because those two guys while different in how good they are have similarities in that they are good scorers albeit Zach is way better and more consistent but the problem they both share is their defense. It gets so bad to a point you see even teams who CIULD trade for guys like this ask themselves is the scoring worth it in conjunction with the other problems they have one of the bigger ones again being defense.

Rusty (or Rudy, you read comments too it seems) read this. It can help anyone but whichever of you does read it, pass it along to the other. From someone who has owned a business for a long time, this is the best advice I’ve been given wrt any kind of service. You provide a service via YT. Your customers are your viewers. …and no I’m not a mechanic lmao. Under promise over deliver. Example. You work on cars and the guy asks “how long before my car is ready?” If you think it’ll take a week, tell him 2. Never ever do the opposite. That way if something goes wrong and you’re late, you have a week of time to figure things out and it’ll still be on time. If it works out like you think, the guy will be THRILLED to get his car in 10 days let alone 7. You can apply that concept to so many things in life, and KZbin is one of them. Under promise, over deliver. ✌️

Hot take for the Lakers: Lebron should ask for a trade. If he's serious about winning more titles, he needs to be on a team with a player who's clearly better than him. At this point in his career, he's not the best player on a title team anymore and needs to be no.2. It's just not going to happen with this Lakers team, that Westbrook deal screwed them up for years. I completeley agree with you about Trae Young, the Hawks should trade him. He's been their best player for a few years and outside of that '21 run, they've been mediocre. If they'd trade him, they would get a big haul for him and they already have decent talent on that team to compete.
