Get'em home, got'em home,,,, this was not my deal in the beginning, but the call came in and a deal was made,, I ended up with (28 engines) of the McCormick-Deering (IHC) engines, model M, 1 1/2 and 3 hp,, to be moved to here on the east coast of Arkansas,,,,, the other 51 engines, 7 bases, 8 blocks, 6 sets of flywheels are in middle Tennessee and will be for sale or trade? leave comments, we counted blocks and flywheels as incomplete engines, and in the loading one engine was overlooked and left at the auction site?,, in all this was an easy move, yes it was hot!, until the rain came, and heavy, the more you load, the heavier they get,, it took all day to load as they were loading out the other engines, pick up trucks with trailers were coming and going all day,, I will say the auction company done good as they brought in an extra fork lift just to load this trailer,, and thanks to Wayne and the guy who loaned us the furniture moving dollies,,, thanks to all that helped with this engine move,, thanks,, comments?,,, subscribe, pass it on,,

Sam - these engines are an important part of our history. You getting them before they hit the scrap heap is a huge service to maintaining this little piece of history. I wish I lived a lot closer to you so I could hang out with you and understand more about these great little and big motors that powered our country.

Thanks for taking us on the Journey Sam! Memory lane for me because I lived up in the mountains of both NC and TN. The hit and miss was the sound I fell asleep to at night because the little store down in the holler was still running it for electricity way back in the 50's. When I was in the military later, the little village outside the gate in Korea (1968) used one to provide electricity but only until 10pm. Thanks again Sam and wish you all my best in getting them running and selling some!

I sure do enjoy your video's. Please keep making them. I have 3 hit and miss engines. 2 of them I am having trouble finding parts for. 1 is a 3hp 1909 George Miller and the other is somewhere between 1907 and 1917 Gilson I think is a Johhny on the spot. none have been able to be fired up yet. Thanks for all your time making and putting up your videos!

,,, I hope it's never to late to say "thank you" as you saved the day with them dollies,,,, sure made it easier to get the engines to the front of the trailer,, as hot the inside of that trailer was, and as heavy the engines were I don't think we could have moved them to the front of that trailer by ourselves,, I will say the auction sale guys helped load about the last 20 or so engines,,, man, we was tired,, again, thank you for the dolllies,, shopdogsam

Boilers are made by filling your boiler tube with tamped sand, OR filled with Brass while hot, and then bent to shape, and the brass melted out, Or sand emptied , then each coil welded to the joined manifold, The burner is from two, three burner pump up colman stoves, or a set of blow lamps,

Oh? and the feed water? It's turned on by mercury switches "Like a mechanical temp sender from a truck" or the thermo coupling from a propane camper heater. or a cook stove, instead of the thermo coupling turning the fuel to the heater on or off? it turns the feed water on when it would have in the heater turned the burner down.

Dear Mr. Sam, I enjoy all your videos; even the ones about cooking cornbread. You'll stay young and live a good life if you promise yourself to restore all 99 engines before you go to the great shop in the sky! BTW, I had a dear friend whose daddy was a tool and die man for the railroad. I think she was born in a railroad town outside of Little Rock. Can't remember the name of the place.

I've only heard that particular accent from East TN (The Bowl), I would be surprised if you didn't have family here. I would LOVE to get my hands on an old engine like that to rebuild, but time is a factor. I'll have to look around, out here in farm country surely there are a few around....

yes. that's what the future generations need. 100 gas engines. Oh man, they'll travel from all over the world to "WONDER" at them. I can see putting a couple in a museum or some shit, but 100? hell no. that shits gonna end up on his lawn next to the moldy couch and the pile of empty big gulp cups.

Wow! And all I want is one. I have an old cider press with a flat pulley on the side, obviously for a flat belt that used to run off an old hit & miss. I doubt i'd need more than 1hp. maybe 1/2, or 1/3. I really don't know. Let me know when you get one running & want to sell one you think I might need. I've been looking off & on for years. There's just not to many out on the west coast.
