This will probably be my last trip to the Middle Provo for awhile... With runoff and Stillwaters/Ice Off coming in earnest soon I decided to go try and find the BWOs. Didn't see a single head all day and needed to grind a few Nymph fish.

I'm always amazed at how many fish you catch on the middle. I hardly ever catch any. I think they know I'd rather be anywhere else. 😮 Honestly,, how do you compare the diamondback to your other nymphing rods? I keep going back and forth on getting a 1wt. Thanks!!!

Personally, having fished a lot of the Euro Nymphing rods out there, the Ideal Nymph is the best value for top end performance. It outpaces my Shadow X and Clearwater by miles just for feel and accuracy (and probably durability). The 10' 1 wt has a special magic to it. But it's not as practical as the 10' 2wt. I'm leaning towards adding a second 10' 2wt.

@@TroutFlies thanks for the reply. I have a 2wt and a 3wt from a different manufacturer, so don't want to duplicate the size just yet, which is why I'm interested in a 1wt for smaller waters. Do you know any places that demo their rods on the water? I would really like to try before I buy. Thanks again!!!

Do you use a strike indicator

I seldom use a strike indicator on streams anymore. Dry Dropper sometimes if I'm in the type of water that would fish much better with a suspension rig.

How long does run off last?

REALLY depends on the year. With our above average water year, I bet it extends into the mIddle of June.

I bought it from a big box outdoors retailer. It's a 17'x22' hoop, so extra big for comp reasons. But Fly Fish food also has the 13"x18" hoop one that I picked up to test also.
