Endgame is a two-and-a-half-hour montage of Thanos living on the farm - chopping wood, milking space cows, fishing, pulling water from a well, etc - until he sits down for dinner only to have the Avengers break down a wall of his house and steal his foreskin along with the gauntlet.

Here is the thing... we knew full well that the avengers would win and fix the snap. It had to happen. However, endgame was placed at an extremely important time for the entirety of the original avenger crew. By the time the final act rolled, all the characters left had completed their arc. and in a lot of stories, characters that complete their arc get sent off, as as such usually are killed off. Everyone knew someone was going to die but there was so many balls thrown in the air that you could not know who would sacrifice themselves, maintaining tension through even when we knew the end point.

Box office, especially opening week, is a measurement of how good previous installments of the franchise is and how effective the marketing is and has very little to do with how good the movie is. If you want to use box office to measure how good a film is, seeing how big the drop off from week 2 and on wards is a much better measuring stick, although still not great either. You see huge drop offs in those numbers for films like Justice League and The Last Jedi, meanwhile movies like the the first Avengers and Infinity War had steady numbers throughout their runs in theaters. Captain Marvel taking in 1 billion was a reflection of how good Infinity War was and how invested people are in the MCU franchise. A franchise can survive a bad movie once in a while as long as you don't do 2 or more bad ones in a row.

@Thorne "no emotional weight" "the story is bland" "soulless filmmaking" "retarded quips" "cartoon reliant cgi" "inconsistent villain with a bad motive" If you really study filmmaking, it's such a shame that you don't learn anything. You don't bring any arguments, you just list things you feel were wrong with the movie. You don't explain why the movie has no emotional weight (at least your explanation doesn't make sense), you don't explain why the villains motive is bad, you don't explain why the filmmaking is soulless (you couldn't be more wrong there). I highly doubt you study anything related to movies. Of course superhero movies will never be the deepest movies out there. That's not what they're supposed to be. They're epics. And I am positive that we won't ever see an epic of such a grand scale again in cinema in our lifetime. Or at least for a few decades.

An honorable mention to me is the final confrontation between Vision and Ultron from Avengers: Age of Ultron. It's kinda like a scene in which Jesus is talking to the Devil about the virtues and flaws of humanity respectively. Ultron commenting on how humanity is doomed while Vision comments on how something isn't beautiful if it lasts forever. It's a short scene that give a powerful sendoff to what I consider an underrated villain in the MCU. Ultimately, Ultron is right as seen in Infinity War but Vision is also right as I'm sure we will see in End Game. I hope somebody does this scene because I think it deserves attention.

^That's true, they are inviting more people to do scenes. It sounds important to you, and the best way to ensure something gets done is to do it yourself! Ultron was a great villain but I think they made a lot of mistakes with him and his movie. AoU is an underrated movie regardless, but it definitely could have been better. With Ultron specifically, he can definitely come back. In the comics he always comes back with massive upgrades, they could do something like that again.

Ok. Everyone that says “all Marvel movies are the same” the formula is the same but the movies are different and the things that happen in those movies effects the overall plot and character development in a major way. The thing with series (or cinematic universes) is that there IS a plan and you have to be *patient* . Each character gets their time to grow and if you threw Thanos in too soon the impact just wouldn’t be there. It’s amazing how Marvel was able to shove enough lore down our throats that we didn’t even notice was there until it all came together. "One Marvelous Scene" for me is at the end of Infinity War when you see all of the remaining Avengers and Cap sitting next to visions corpse, and he is out of breathe, beaten, and terrified then just says "Oh God...". I absolutely agree they could have ended the movie there, because every time I see that scene it gives me chills. Steve Rodgers is always so positive and steadfast no matter what situation hes in, and this is the first time we ever see him absolutely terrified! You can clearly tell by his facial expressions, and body language that he is just defeated, and wondering for the first time since we have seen him become a hero "how are we going to fix this." All that along with the only two words he says; perfectly encapsulates all the emotions hes feeling at that moment, and Chris Evans absolutely nails it.

I like how Infinity War came out and all of a sudden everyone's MCU fatigue just seemed to magically disappear. And then Captain Marvel Happened.
@user-xb5bz4fu9o5 жыл бұрын
In my mind the film was pretty good, not great but it didn't deserve the backlash. I don't think there was any film Marvel could have produced (especially with a female lead) between IW and EG that would have been received very well, and calling that "superhero fatigue" seems inaccurate.
@vocalcalibration80335 жыл бұрын
@@user-xb5bz4fu9o That's what it seemed like to me anyway. Also I don't ķnow if I agree totally with that. Had we been hit with a Black Widow film, or a Scarlet Witch film I think people would have been pretty open to it. I think part of the issue is that CM, as a character, was introduced to the MCU with little build in a film that honestly feels kind of disconnected from the rest of the MCU. Hell, at some points almost feels like parody, such as Nick Fury losing his eye to a cat. I also only highlighted CM for the sake of the joke, but Ant-man and the Wasp are undeniably a part of it. Endgame will either pump everyone back up, or could be the beginning of the end for some. Considering how unique and unprecedented the MCU actually is, it's kind of hard to predict what comes next.
@zacharygilmore10754 жыл бұрын
I don't see the hate behind Captain Marvel. I think she is a better version of 1st and 2nd movie Thor (not Ragnarok, obviously). She has a clear personality and a reason for why she is so powerful, but not actually overpowered. Plus, it was nice seeing a superhero movie without end-of-the-world stakes.
@onthescene78974 жыл бұрын
What's up with CM tho? It was a good movie for an origin of a character. I don't get yall hating on it. If yall hate the actress, then stay that way, CM is a good movie, practically better than half of the movies in the MCU, stop the bitterness

I remember being so embarrassingly affected by Infinity war that I had to be carried out of the theater because I couldn’t stop crying nor could I feel my face hands or legs. Thanos is such an expertly crafted character and such a tangible presence that when I saw Endgame in the theatre and he got ambushed by the avengers- I shit you not- I felt his breath hit my face and felt the heat of the environment as he talked. Two experiences that I’ve never felt before or since from a film of any kind

Wow. Thanks to you, I realise that everyone around me is emotionless. At no point during either Infinity War or Endgame did anyone watching cry, laugh or cheer. Ever. And the screens were packed. I held it together pretty well at the end of both though.

Thanos with the look of pure satisfaction knowing that he's fulfilled his destiny and his vision has come to fruition makes the Farm so special. And the credits ending with "Thanos will return" only solidifies how badass and important he is as a character just after one film. Not to mention that amazing score to go along with it, in my opinion they really couldn't have put a cap on the first decade of the MCU any better than what they did.
@stuffthings96183 жыл бұрын
The Farm scene was arguably the most cinematic scene out of the whole MCU alongside Tony having to watch his parents get killed in Civil War. Just the sheer build up to that moment. The loss from our characters to a villian a decade in the making. And the best part is Thanos is not just a generic villian. The audience is frustrated but at the same time somehow satisfied he made good on his promise. This is because they gave Thanos depth. His mission is built on some form of logic that many villains lack. We feel for him when he kills Gamora. The end is somber. He doesn't take any pride in what he just did. He had a goal and he accomplished it. Thats it. End of story. No wide shot with dramatic music. No evil villian laughter. Just a long sigh. This movie is definitely a Thanos tribute.

I love this scene too. I'm fascinated by final shots in film. When they're done well, that last visual image can beautifully clarify and condense that meaning of the entire film. CGI-heavy superhero films don't usually have that, but Infinity War was a huge exception. Thanos's satisfied expression and subtle nod as the sun rises says so much.

Infinity War's ending had me speechless through the entire credits. Actually, the whole theater was speechless, like..out of th 20-50 folks in there, maybe 3-5 got up and left. All the rest of us just sat there, dumb-founded, hoping to see something that would "make things alright". It was like we all got PTSD from the movie.

The snap got me by surprise. I had previously read the Infinity Gauntlet storyline and besides the name and a few key moments (such as cap telling Thanos that he will never win because one person will always be against him, which we don’t really get anyways) I never thought that the snap would happen. When watching the movie, I kept that mindset because not only did they keep the consist marvel movie theme, but they also completely changed the story by removing lady death. In addition, although they talk the snap up, it almost seems like the snap would be unfathomable from the film’s perspective. However, after watching Thanos snap his fingers and while the rest of the audience collect themselves, I was in shock and awe at the realization.

I, like everyone, have my issues with the Marvel movies. But I will never forget when I saw infinity war at a midnight premiere with a rowdy audience who had spent most of the movie cheering and laughing. When the snap happened, it was like someone turned off the volume. No one spoke a word, and everyone leaving the theatre had a shell shocked look. It was incredible

For me my favourite scene of infinity war and the mcu as a whole was the scene where Vision is killed by Wanda which is already powerful enough but then you see thanos talking about how there’s no time to mourn what’s lost, then there’s no time at all, and instantly in your head you think THE TIME STONE and it’s the biggest plot twist because you think the avengers took the dub when vision was killed. It’s such a dark but satisfying twist. I also love the music throughout this scene
@Riskofrain5274 жыл бұрын
I didn't think they would win when they destroyed vision. I knew thanos was going to bring him back with either the soul stone which would prove that vision does have a soul like banner said or with the time stone.

5:03 When I was younger, one of my teachers gave us an assignment where we had to analyze characters from certain stories based on a single part of those stories. One of these was the dummy grenade scene from Capt. America 1. Another one of my teachers that year sometimes uses marvel or the avengers as examples for assignments. It made me realize just how popular these characters really became from these movies.
