What do we do when we want to change the bit to 0? will having a bitline to 0 defeat the current value in inverters?

The stored bit loops continuously between the two inverters. Is this the reason why data is lost if power to the SRAM is cut?

yes

Does the loop of inverters waste energy? is there a way to reduce the power consumption from them?
@shashankrao44437 жыл бұрын
Loop of inverter has energy consumption. You can reduce the power consumption by designing low power CMOS. More info to start with: bwrcs.eecs.berkeley.edu/Classes/IcBook/SLIDES/slides4a.pdf

Well, static power dissipation is zero( i.e. when the transients are not present in the cell). Regarding dynamic power consumption, that will to a large extent depend on the bit line capacitances that the inverters will need to drive.

Not able to understand how to read data..
@ARBITRON40006 жыл бұрын
You just let the inverters drive the two bit lines in order to read.

what actually happens when he says that "the stronger 1 defeats the 0"?
@ARBITRON40006 жыл бұрын
If inverters are trying to drive a 0 and you want it to instead drive a 1 (because you want to store a 1), you want to "defeat" the inverter's value and force it to drive a 1. So the only way you can do that in this scenario is by having the 1 (the bit line) be much stronger than the 0 (the inverters), which will force the inverter to change to drive a 1 instead.
