@TheTravelingTogetherJournal2 жыл бұрын
Nice. '78 would have been an adventurous drive down the peninsula. I don't think I made it all the way to Cabo until around '90. That was also with my dad. Lots of good memories and hopefully many more to come. Tacos El Gallo, 3 doors down from Copal/ VP gas station in Vizcaino. It's become one of our favorites. The family that owns it is great and the dad is hilarious. I gotta warn you though, I was a little creative with the timeline in my editing to through any would be surf-detectives off my trail 😉

Awesome!! We're getting ready to head down for 6 months. What time of year was this trip? We are in a 40' skoolie, did you see many big rigs down there? How bad are the dirt roads out to the surf spots? Thanks
@TheTravelingTogetherJournal2 жыл бұрын
6 months, you're bound to have a good time 👍 There are lots of people who drive RVs or tow campers down the peninsula. This has been a common practice for 40 + years and there are many rv parks catering to this style of travel. If you stick to the very frequently traveled dirt roads you will be on graded dirt/ washboard roads and probably fine as long as you stay on the road. I'm sure the bus is comfy when you get to camp, but probably not appropriate for adventuring too far off the beaten path. I assume it is heavy, has massive turning radius, and poor breakover/departure angles compared to a standard 4x4 suv or pickup. Plus, if you get it stuck the average person driving by in a pickup won't be able to pull the bus out. Also, be very aware of the weather forecast if you decide to adventure off pavement. A graded dirt road can quickly turn unpassable if it starts raining or a flash flood comes down from the mountains. That being said... it is your skills and comfort level that really draw the line.
