A Disclaimer 😄: The weather was very nice for the first week of January. After that was around 17℃/63℉, but mostly cloudy and windy. While many people still enjoyed the beach ... only few were in the water. Actually, the beautiful thing about Las Palmas is that every day it looks different!

Thanks for this! We're thinking of spending 4 or 5 weeks in Las Palmas next winter. Which part of the city did you stay in? And which part do you recommend?

We stayed at "Calle Dr. Miguel Rosas, 7, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Spain". This is near Las Canteras Beach and is where the tourists are. You have the beach, the promenade, restaurants, the bus station, and Hertz to rent a car ... Two disadvantages. Because there are too many tourists, the area is not very clean. Also, when you want to go to Vegueta (the old town) you need to take a bus, as it's 5km away, which should not be a problem. We went 3 times for the video and of course to explore! Now, you can probably find a place at Vegueta, which is more authentic, but you will miss the beach walks (the promenade). We walked (and run) around the beach every day, and every day it looked different because the clouds are aways changing. It's beautiful. So I guess I recommend around the beach! Stan.

I just made a search on Airbnb. 99% of the apartments are near the beach ... so this settles it. 😉

Yes, I noticed that the city of Las Palmas covers a lot of area and while the Old City looks nice, the waterfront in that area doesn't look great, so we were looking in the area where you stayed between the Las Canteras beach and the port. Thanks for confirming. We're just finishing up our stay in Funchal which, as you know, is much more compact, has a lot of waterfront for walking, but no real beaches, just a lot of rocks :) As for the weather, we're from Canada so anything in the teens in February is just fine, because it's usually ten to twenty below back home!

Cool, let me know if I can answer any more questions. Did you see the other two videos from Gran Canaria? We went to Maspalomas for a day and also rented a car and made a day trip from Agüimes to Mogán. You can also explore the other Canary Islands with day trips ... but maybe like us you prefer to come another time and stay on different island for a month. Before Las Palmas we stayed for one month at Tenerife, which was great.

@@where-the-wind-blows Yes, we're like you- we look for a place to spend 4-6 weeks and stay there. We've done multi-city vacations in the past and find they are not as relaxing. We thought of Santa Cruz de Tenerife but the waterfront looked really grim to me when I did a Google streets tour- a lot of concrete and industry. Las Palmas seems to offer lots more in terms of waterfront and beaches.
