Listening to this perfomance brought a lot of nostalgia to my heart... I always through that another would had been the end of he had expressed how he felt. I promised myself not to pass up the opportunity to tell those in my life how much they matter and how much I love them. To finish... we met again after 24 years, with different paths and stories. Maybe to say everything we couldn't say at the time. Maybe to continue from we left off? Or just to say goodbye. Greetings from Argentina.

A lot of people say that 5 centimeters is Makoto Shinkai's most boring work ever, and I think that's partly to do with how...realistic the anime is. It's so painfully realistic that it really does hit you in the feels in a different way. It's a poignant portrayal of how relationships slowly fade due to time, distance, our own complicated insecurities, emotions, and fears. While it wasn't the happy ending that everyone wanted, with the way Takaki smiled, it showed that there was hope for him to finally move on from Akari. As always, what a beautiful arrangement. I certainly had five feels per second while listening to it 🥺

5 Centimeters per Second is aging so well as I do. I was able to watch this film during my early years of high school and somehow, it put me into confusion because I did not yet understood enough the meaning behind this masterpiece. As I mature and grew older until I finished my college years, I thought of watching it again. It became more heartfelt and breathtakingly sad-as it left me a hole, a void that could never be fulfilled, just as what the main character felt. I believe that this masterpiece transcends fiction, therefore pretty much reflects the reality of life and love.

This song unironically saved my life man. Learning it was a refuge from school and abusive parents, the most beautiful song and one of the only things I enjoyed doing my senior year of high school. Because of this song I was able to find something in life worth living for, I gradually dug myself out of depression, applied for college, wrote about the song in my essay, and got into my dream school. Even now I still play this song when I practice on the school pianos, and although its rusty now piece feels as amazing as it did the first time I heard it. Thank you animenz

I think it is a timeless masterpiece. The characters in anime don't have to be perfect, they don't have to be correct, they just have to show a side of humanity. Not only is the art breathtaking, I think many people might agree with 5cm/s' feeling of pure and innocent love.

"I have a hard time to accept the message of this movie (basically: never moving on from a failed relationship)" I have to say I disagree with this message. @timpark02
@timpark02 3 жыл бұрын
I personally think the message had a lot more to do with regret, rather than just not moving on. Yes, he didn't move on, but that wasn't just cuz it didn't work out. It was because it was his fault it didn't work out. He didn't put in the effort to keep it going. You can tell this is the case, especially from that one line in part 2, where he says that at one point, he stopped sending the messages he had written out. He knows the relationship failed because he didn't try hard enough, and that's what is eating away at him. Which is why at the end of the movie, he is finally able to fulfill his promise with her when they were kids. To meet under those same cherry blossoms by the train once again. Knowing he was able to keep his promise, its the spark he needed to let go, and move on. (Sorry about the rant lol i just love this movie)

I think it shows that there two paths... She who didn't turn back after the train had passed and lived her own life, and he who has turned around and smiled in melancholy that it had happened... Both of them had managed to move on in their own ways and neither of them were right nor wrong in their paths... Is my interpretation of Shinkai's message :)

Animenz: "5 CM per second? Ah, you must mean 5 CounterMelodies Per Second" All jokes aside, my favorite part about this rendition is the deliberate way that each of the individual motifs are weaved seaminglessly together the same tapestry, like slightly differently tinted cherrry blossoms co-mingling together in the wind. Each of the notes falls at a steady pace, again, like the speed of the cherry blossoms as they fall, while the sustained bell tones at times mirror the individual tears invoked by this feels trip. btw, I see big brother globe has also taken a feels trip and has left mini globe to cover this week 😆 Thank you for blessing us with this wonderfully poignant cover 🙂

An ending wherein Akari waited for the train to pass by and they saw each other, both crying while remembering the beautiful past they had, then eventually getting back together. This is one of my favorite movies despite it not being as famous as others.🥰😍🤩 Actually to me this movie portrays just a case of a failed relationship (of course not every failed relationship has this outcome and of course every person deals with it differently). But in this case (and in many cases in real life) it just happened to be THAT SPECIFIC person you needed in your life and YOU happened to realize that late and the CIRCUMSTANCES for them just happened to be difficult from the very beginning. Also this movie is amazingly realistic because i believe that many people nowadays feel that sth is missing from their lives, that somewhere along their way they made a wrong choice, that maybe they ignored a chance that was given to them or that they just never tried to create a chance for themselves!!! Also the movie portrays so well feelings like "loneliness", "uneasiness", "regret", and the awfull state of being "stagnant in your life". More people than we may realize (including ourselves) have that painful VOID in them and most of the times they aren't aware of it (while trying to fill their lives with futile and shallow things) or they are just afraid of changing and start sth new. The main message of this amazing movie for me is to always listen to your heart and to always TRY for what you want and not let life go by just like that. It is indeed difficult to change sth major in your life once you ve settled to a specific pattern of life, but this this just one life for everybody so we have at least to try for what makes as happy. It is okay if it doesn't end up like how we imagined (in the end we cannot be 100% sure for anything) but at least we will never regret not trying. Everything i said might be too general and sound utopic because every person is in a different position from another and deals with life differently, but I think that everyone knows what they want deep down so I believe that everyone will discover what has to be done or at least they will discover how to get past sth like what the protagonist experienced and accept the fact that he needs to say goodbye to a chapter of his life ❤ Amazing arrangement AS ALWAYS!!!!! I LOVE YOUR CHANNEL!!😍😍😍

The film is a masterpiece. I've never felt so empty and lonely at the same time after watching it. The harsh truth about life and lost relationships, what could have been and what is, decisions changing one's fate, fears which make us so scared of everything, making us passive pieces of shit... It made me feel so connected to reality, and at the same time overwhelmed by the endless possibilites of one's life. All of that with splendid images. Yes it is a true and harsh description of reality. Everybody can relate to the feeling of having friends, making friends, growing up, losing friends, becoming an adult, moving one with many things, losing a childhood love, yearning to love and to be loved, finding that one special person, etc... To sum it up in a nutshell, it talks about life and about loss. Just an incredible performance. Of course this is just my opinion and I have some friends who have not enjoyed it as much as I did. Everyone is entitled to his opinion :) ps : I don't know about you, but while no other movies has made me feel close to what i felt after watching this movie, the anime "Your lie in april" was pretty incredible on his own way with the theme of loss. Except it was much sadder. I couldn't prevent myself from thinking about it for at least 2 months and it made me super sad in a strange way. You have to watch it if you have not already ! And, by the way, great cover ! I'm a little afraid of buying this 6 pages partition, i hope I have both the level and the time to play it right one day ! Keep going !

Not enough people read the manga, and that’s ok, the movie was great, but in the ending of the manga, it is hinted takaki met the girl who liked him in the 2nd chapter again in Tokyo, so there’s that. This movie was definitely special to me for it’s painful reality on the grasp of relationships that just can’t be helped, heartstrings, pulled. Honestly, in the end, where everyone hope they’d meet at the train tracks scene, it was a good thing they never met again, because that would finally allow Takaki to move on, move on to something better now, to bring his life further for him instead of dragging it down for a girl who wouldn’t do the same anymore, it was beautiful, and cruel, but still beautiful.

The movie is remain us about how hard we tried to keep the spark of our first love experience. Takaki is hard to move on for several years because his relationship with akari ended up with no conclusions. Takaki is just like most of us, as the time comes by we forced to keep walking into this reality and sometimes not able to find an answer about our past. The scene when Takaki lost his love letter at the snowy station would be one of the most regretful moment for him. That is why he hopes ONE MORE TIME ONE MORE CHANCE, unfortunately its never happen.

The feelings from watching this movie left me in the world of it for days (ie depressed for a few days lol), which is what great stories do to ppl. As for the message, I think it's telling ppl not to be afraid to put in effort in trying to maintain/advance the relationship with someone you really like. And for the ending, I think if you really love someone, you just wish that she is doing well no matter what, which Takaki found out Akari was, so he smiled and figured out that he should move on as well. If I were Takaki, I would go meet up with Akari coz precious memories last forever so why not be friends again, it would still be great😀This is why I love Koe no Katachi too!

@@SimonPiano42 No, fail is my own opinion. Comparate to his others, it is not... not enough (too short and incomplete). About Your Name, it's an absolute masterpiece, the best that I never seen. Even Miyazaki can't deny it 😎

@@pandaroux9465 again, too short is not a valid criticism imo because it's a series of short films. Garden of Words is also only 40 minutes or so and i love it. But it's ok if you don't like it, opinions differ.

Beautiful performance! Hearing this song brings back many memories from when I first saw this movie. Even if it wasn’t the best movie I have seen, it seemed to be the one that impacted me the most. This movie really hit different at the time. 🤣 The sad story of a love that never got to be. The themes of being unable to move on really struck a chord. It may be because it’s a pretty relatable feeling that people experience. One of the quotes that really stood out was, “But I’m sure that even if we had written 1,000 text messages back and forth... our hearts probably wouldn’t have moved even 1 centimeter closer.” Even if they stayed in touch, the distance that gradually increased was too long to close. But, it was nice to see that main character finally was able to move on in the end during the train scene. Anyway, the arrangement itself is really beautiful. I think you portrayed the emotions really well. Even though it was on the simpler end, the delicate touch and the minimalistic yet full sound really stood out. As always, that melody will probably always bring back memories. This song and the ending piano piece in the credits of this movie are definitely memorable. Wonderful performance! :)

I'm in the camp that this film is a timeless masterpiece. The first time I saw it, I was also put off by the ending, but after rewatching and sitting with it over months and now years, it's become a strong contender for my favorite animated film. Between the stunning visuals, poignant soundtrack, and agonizingly realistic story, it completely captures my imagination and emotions in a way few movies have. Listening to this (on repeat for the past half hour now), I'm reminded just how much I love Shinkai's work, your uploads these past three weeks have been an absolute treat. I'll miss your weekly uploads once your library is complete, but I do look forward to seeing such a triumph come to fruition! I sincerely appreciate all the work and inspiration you've shared over the years. :)

I love almost all of Shinkai's works, even though they don't always hold up perfectly to critical scrutiny. But i really think it's more about emotions and themes in Shinkai's works than convincing stories, as silly as that may sound. Don't we all know these feelings of unconquerable distance, nostalgia, separation, magical romantic moments...? They are pushed to the extremes by Shinkai, in a way that intuitively feels so right and magical, even if it's strange when you think about it. Your Name is also full of story problems, but it's still magical. Isn't this the case for a lot of romantic movies? This never-dieing romantic love is almost nonexistant and silly to pursue. Yet it's a grand ideal that makes for magical movies. (And maybe, in 5 centimeters per second, the protagonist just hasn't found anyone else he's interested in?) By the way, lovely arrangement and playing :)

Rather than just a message for relationship, you can see the movie as a perfect representation of how bitter when you couldn't moving on is or even how it can effed your life. So basically "if you don't wanna feel this, then move on. your surrounding won't wait and stop while you're down" Thankyou for the cover as always, even though it reminds me of dem feels haha

This is undoubtedly one of the finest masterpieces of JP anime cinema. When life doesn't go your way, do you just accept it?t In this film, they accept what life gives them and miss opportunities to reconnect. They have email and they have telephone, but they lack the resolve to do anything. One of the most difficult questions in life is "what if". What if I had asked her out? What if I had the courage to try for that job? What if I didn't give up on that relationship? The last one is me. I gave up on a relationship early in college when I was young and didn't know better. I've spent years wondering "what if I stayed?" Makoto Shinkai only made one 5 Centimeters a Second movie, where the relationship was so hopeless. In Kimo no na Wa and Tenki no Ko (Weathering with you), the main characters are far more courageous. They are open with their feelings, they are willing to endure across time and distance to protect the feelings and people important to them. In my opinion, there will never be a second 5 Centimeters a Second, at least not from Makoto Shinkai. He has said all he wanted to say, and Takaki is able to accept that it's over and move on at the end. No more "what if" ...

Afterwards watching is just me silently fading into oblivion for an hour just basking on the reality of this film

For me it is an timeless masterpiece! I watched this movie about 8 years ago and it is the first anime movie I bought. I only have 3 movies because I only buy the ones I truly appreciate. Besides just being able to watch the scenery and music over and over again, the thing that really stood out is the ending theme song.: one more time, one more chance. The story about love from different perspectives always reaches you, one way or another. I was happy when Theisther made an arrangement of it and now you made one!! I'll be sure to learn this one.

This is a movie that doesn't kick at the moment right after you watch it It hurts as time goes on Two young people get to know each other and fall in love after all the trivial dailies, and it bursts Then it comes to longterm reminiscence til the let go in the end You might have very slight feelings at the beginning But it gets deeper as you reminisce, the more you reminisce the more painful you will get As the tide rises and falls, as the wind breezes through your face, it gradually graves into your bone Just like the title, "one more time, one more chance" Will I fall in love with you again there's a second chance?

Its very realistic and it keeps going on my mind and keeps hurting me the fact that akari is married to another man while forgetting the failed relationship she had with takaki, its a very sad truth that sometimes someones relationship fades away and dissapears like how snow melts when summer comes. It kinda hurt my soul after i watched the movie it was good. Till next time
