Yes Olive is still very impressionable and follows me around just like Molly used to. Molly is 2 yrs old now and it's been hot here and she just wants to lie in the shade, but Olive doesn't care about the heat yet. Molly has a haircut coming up so she'll be relieved a bit. The thing about the duck bunk is I built it from my head...no plans. I'd have to reverse engineer it lol. Thank u so much.

You are a inspiration too me. I'm struggling with a life of depression and anger at myself (66yrs). Working to leave the city (im inside home bound from depression and anxiety). We need to complete our debt payoff so we can buy a small farm or ranch in another state. Seeing your life and how easy going and relaxed you are brings tears to my eyes. I know a homestead is allot of work and not so fun things, but that's part of what allows you to thrive in your heart. Thank you for sharing.

These ducks have the best penthouse ever with that private pool 🏊‍♂️. I still think the run looks like the inside of a whale belly with the ribs showing on the inside!! Geese and ducks have the best play yard ever at your homestead.

I had absolutely no idea people built housing for ducks, let alone the ultimate ultra custom duck resort! You ought to call it The Quack-a-lago Club, Quack-a-lago for short. That chicken house is bangin! I subscribed and liked! I have a duck that hangs out on our back porch during the days and sleeps in the back yard by the lake. Today he brought a friend and I was wondering if they might like some little simple duck houses to keep them from pooping so much on the porch, and I stumbled across this amazing video!

How nice to have broody hens. And that duckie bunkie is luxurious! We have ducks in a pond close to us and everyone was excited when there was a clutch of eggs hidden underneath a bush. Unfortunately nothing came of it because there were no broody hens. We considered taking a few to hatch but didn't want to disturb nature. Landscapers eventually removed the eggs I think. Your ducks are lucky duckies in their duckie bunkie.

Yes I was so surprised to see them broody. First there was one duck but now there's two and even if I get so close to them they don't move. They have a lot of eggs under there so I hope they can hatch some ducklings, we'll see though I'll keep you guys updated as I too am interested to see how they do. Cheers.

Just ran across your content. I'm a former rancher, but ended up becoming a developer /contractor. I also have an engineering degree. That said, as I have retired, I have chosen to utilize my retirement funds to invest in myself and a new ranching op. All that to just point out I appreciate your foresight and ingenuity . Love the fowlagon. Duck run is very forward looking with the simplicity. You have much to offer the newly baptised Farming Fad Community. We are sadly about 2 generations removed from young people having an older relatve still on a farm or small homestead. Love the integration of your brood area and the general feed stores. Good on you for dropping a couple lines for the hatching and lighting/heat lamp setup. Im subscribing!

We have 3 turkeys. My wifes decision. The girls are very social but the male is going to kill me. Loves my wife though. I can't bring in groceries or firewood or anything without a showdown with him. I carry a broom.

I've been brooding my ducks in my room for eight weeks and really you couldnt even tell i had ducks in there unless you knew already or you saw them lol but it is harder now that theyre this big. One more week and theyre outside lol

I use it as mulch in the gardens where needed especially the garlic and strawberries. Some goes to compost too. We have a 30’ run and it becomes a mud area after winter so I spread it all around on the ground in there…after a few months you wouldn’t even know there was straw in there cause the ducks squish it into the ground.

Nope, they can only get a few feet off the ground but usually prefer to just forage.

Geese? Oh heck no. I'm told Guineas will likely drown themselves if they're near water, so if I can figure out how to have both, along with some chickens maybe, that'd be fantastic. I really hope I can!

What do you do about flies Inside the duck house and run.. I have a run that is all small rock about 6 inch thick Where they spend the night. I cleaned it out daily with a hose and the poo Goes into the rocks and then into the ground. There is too many flies. But in the yard where they spend the day there are no flies and that area is all dirt. Any ideas?

we have the same issue. The flies must hatch in the muck. I put all the straw bedding from inside their house over the ground in their run and that gets rid of the muck for a while. But I mostly just let nature be, sometimes I think why aren't the ducks eating the flies lol. I never clean our run, they compact the straw and it eventually becomes part of the soil and the flies start up again.

@HiddenSpringFarm I bought Parasitic wasps From amazon yesterday, I am hoping that they will eat the fly larva. If it works as advertised then it should reduce the population significantly. I also bought fly paper.
