One of A Kind LOFT STAIRCASE / OFF Grid CABIN Building (S4 Ep10)

It took me over a year from the start of this project to the completion. I worked on this project every now and then, when I found the right piece to fit the puzzle. It's hard to imagine at the beginning what I had in mind, but it was worth the time I've spent cleaning all the strange pieces of wood and installing them to create a tree like staircase/playground for the kids. I had this idea from the beginning of the log cabin build and I very happy that I was able to make it a reality. It also fits perfectly with the rest of the raw/natural style of the log cabin. Up in the loft I've built also a third bedroom, but it can't be seen from this video.

I knew every comment would be much the same as mine, but it shouldn’t stop me saying that I was so happy to see you had posted a new video after some time. Your cabin build is honestly the most beautiful thing I’ve ever watched, I’ve watched from the start, from when you were identifying trees, felling them and dragging them back to the rack for bark stripping and numbering. I tried to watch this on Friday night, but couldn’t keep my eyes open after a mad week, so will watch again now. All I remember from first attempt was grinding off the bark and that this must have happened before the bathroom. Hope you’re feeling the love Nic, it’s coming at you from all directions. I love seeing you still working on your house. Don't worry about the speed of updating, anyone who watches how much hard work you put into creating these things will understand why your videos take time. Also, even if you never put out another video again, I'd still be so grateful for the ones you've already shared with the world. The climbing tree/ladder/staircase/rope netting structure would've been my dream when I was your girl's age. Guys - ear protection, please! Operating noisy machinery (especially for extended periods of time) can and will cause long term damage to your hearing. I recommend over-ear mufflers. There's even ones with speakers built in and Bluetooth. Keep up the good work.

Nik, thank you very much for the new, long-waited-for video which is a very well orchestrated one. In the intro, both daughter and daddy climb trees looking for the most appropriate material for the project. In the bridge, daddy works and at times with the help from family's friends. In the outro, daughter climbs the trees now transformed into a multi purpose end result: in the same time a ladder, exercise equipment and above all, toys for the enjoyment of life.

Beautiful! I see you learned an important rustic work rule. Don’t cut it off until your sure you can’t use it. I’d like to suggest faceted bullet ends on you stub ends. It makes it look like a beaver did it. Also cam lock tie downs are easier to gross adjust than ratchet type for temporary support.
